Hello, I took my truck in 4 weeks ago for a frame inspection. It failed and it's still sitting at the lot waiting to see what Toyota is going to do about it. I've called Toyota's customer service line and they can't help me and the dealer said he's left in the dark until they call him. Four weeks seems like a long time, and I'm about to go on holidays with no vehicle.

Does anyone have any other numbers I can call to find out the status?

    Thanks!

You didn't get a free loaner from Toyota? It took close to 2 months for Toyota to get me a check for my truck, but they gave me a new RAV 4 to use while I waited.

Nope, it's an 02 so they're likely doing the frame swap. I'm guessing they may give me a loaner when they make a decision......whenever that will be.

Wish I had a number for you to call. Seems to me you are not being treated fairly here.

Sorry to here about your truck. I work for Toyota in Central NY and I see alot of these tacos come in with bad frames. When we find a bad frame we contact Toyota and play the waiting game for the new frame to arrive it can take as long as 2 months for a new frame to arrive(sucks). We had an 03 Tundra for 2 1/2 months before the frame showed up. Dont get discouraged about how its taking only a certain amount of frames are built at a time and then they are shipped out on flatbed trucks to the dealer. Then it takes about a week to swap the frames and all the other stuff ie:rear springs, brake and fuel lines, hardware, and misc parts. If you have any questions send me a pm and I will get you the answer from our frame tech.
I'm sure you've felt like doing this more than once right :frusty:

Thanks for the inisght, I don't mind waiting a month or two as long as theres some progress but I haven't heard back on if they're even going to replace the frame. How long does toyota usually take to make a decision?

You should have gotten a rental... I got one with the 96 recall failure (even though I already had the new truck...the dealership didn't care. Gave it to me parents who drove it to Boston twice) and next week the 01 is going in for inspection and coating so I get a rental for the 3 days I don't have her.

I guess it all come down to the amount of frames in stock and where your truck is on the hurry up and wait list

Why is it still sitting on the lot waiting for them to make a decision?

Do they tell you that you can't drive it?

Mine was inspected and failed the end of May/beginning of June. Frame and parts were ordered and the swap was done last Monday. Dropped her off Monday a.m. and picked up the rental. Wednesday afternoon, they called and said come get her. The difference is pretty dramatic. My rear leafs were shot and I added OME struts/coils in the front.

The service manager said he wouldn't be driving it. The frame is like swiss cheese and could buckle at any time. I'm sure he's just being cautious but why take a chance.
