It's been a while since I took it apart but I remember you have to remove the center console cover (top part w/cup holders). Underneath there are screws that keep it in place. What'd you need to remove it for?

If you need to run wire you can just take the top piece off and pull the carpet down under the dash.

Is center console cover easy to remove?

Yes, unscrew the shift knob and pop it up by tugging on the sides. I don't remember there being any screws in the top piece, I can check in a few hours to make sure.

That would be incredibly helpful. Thank you.

I tend to break things if I don’t understand how they’re put together

Be aware that the knee airbag is right there. If it blows, it could shove whatever you are mounting toward you? Just a thought.

As was said, once you pull the shift knob, you can just pull up on the front of the console and it will come free. You can then reach under and unclip the e brake boot from the understand for easy removal.

Also, that kick panel is pretty flexible. So, you can flex it toward you, if that helps.

There are 3 screws near the shifter/cup holder area that hold that piece down to the mechanical box mounted to the tunnel if I recall correctly

Doesn't look like I have any close up pictures

No screws on the top part of the center console (on my manual trans) and yes looks like a 3 screws up front.

I've removed the panel that "covers" the airbag before. FWIW it just sits in front of the actual airbag, its not attached to it. The airbag is mounted behind it and simply blows that cover off when it goes. Do be careful though, especially with yellow labeled wiring.

That makes sense. Suppose it would be easier to pull the center console. Just looks more involved when it’s actually out!

Hate to bring a dead thread back but I’m going to be doing the same. Any advice on what sound deadening to use, how to take everything apart, where to sound deaden, etc. ?
