Hmm, maybe but having black is wearing on me. Really just looking for an excuse to get Cement or Quicksand lol.

It's inevitable, LED headlights are the future. My current stable has them all (LED, Xenon, Halogen) and LEDs are way better than anything out there. Although not all LEDs are created equal, my Acura LEDs FTW. I am sure Toyota is not far behind, if not better. I'd love to get me a pair when available.

Reflector LED’s FTL. Light output is going to be marginally better than the current Tacoma headlights I would bet. I’m a believer that nothing beats a projector be it HID, LED or laser. The LED reflector headlights in some Mercedes were awful. The previous HID projectors blew them out of the water for light output. As far as looks the 2020 headlights look straight from eBay.

The new DRL reminds me of the awful looking Dodge Charger DRL. Love the idea of OEM LED healdlhead, if they have good output, but not feeling the DRL.

Will these LEDs melt snow/ice? Has that really been an issue with LED replacement bulbs in the current housing?

The new 2020 headlamps look really cool. I've seen some LED-reflector-based OEM units from other manufacturers with good light output, so I'm not pessimistic yet. Hoping they'll be an easy swap for the stockers. Appears to be the same sheetmetal so fitment won't be an issue (fingers crossed).

Wondering what the "sequential turn" looks like in action.

Perhaps we can move it to the lighting forum.

Agreed. The 16-19 looks better with the smaller LED strip. And if you have the RX350 projector with HID, you’ll most likely get much better performance. I’ve added a HALO to mines just to give it that extra LED flare

It's one of the biggest changes on the new truck, but there's not a ton of information out there. Given the headaches people are having with LED / HID in the trucks, and what little information we know these units, I thought it would be nice to have a dedicated place to discuss just the headlights, and more information as it becomes available.

Most of the other 2020 threads are being derailed, so I was trying to keep it on topic for people who are genuinely interested in the swap, like myself.

It's just a headlight, its non-intusive and nothing unique. Can go buy them from Toyota when they release and plug and play.

No one is having headaches with LED and HIDs, I run both and they took 5 minutes to install.

This is just another 2020 thread.

Except all the HID shake issues, the LED output questions, and the other dozens of threads on the topic. @crashnburn80 has well documented the issues of running LED in the truck.

If you don’t like the thread, scroll past.

HID shake and LED issues are the minority, a very small minority. Honestly, that’s a desperate reach for validation.

But if you want to talk about OEM headlights until you are blue in the face then go right ahead but don’t expect much of a discussion.

    Cheers mate.

Meanwhile I got to make my own LED and HID headlights for a 7x6 POS box headlight.

I think I’m out on these squinty new headlights. Might change my mind seeing them in person.

LEDs by themselves do not generate any appreciable heat and thus the new LED headlights will very likely not melt snow. For those of us up north - like me - that's going to be an issue.

According to @crashnburn80 ’s test of the OEM Rigid lights, those specific units generated more heat than any of the other units tested, likely to allow formmelting.

I’d venture that these headlights would be similar. I’ll have to do some reading about other OEM lights (Lexus, etc) to see if that’s an issue.
