For whatever reason those older ridgelines had a ton of issues

    Agreed!
While not very truck-like, the ridgeline interior is well done and its rides well for day to day commuting.

95% of Truck Owners would NOT be just fine with a Ridgeline. Your logic is exactly why the Ridgeline is a joke among "trucks". Like you, Honda thought that "truck buyers" were the same as the other "95%" in your group so they smashed two vehicles together and created a wimpy looking mommy car with no frame and a little backside bed that has a cooler to keep the baby formula cold. The previous gen ridgeline looked more truck-like...like an Avalanche....which is another story.

Also, my 2012 Honda Pilot had the same driveline as the 2012 Ridgeline. At 72K miles that vehicle got a transmission, driveshaft, front axle, and steering rack replacement. All under the extended warranty thank the Lord, and then I traded it for my 2018 Tacoma OR DC SB 4x4.

If I could afford a higher monthly payment I would not mind driving one. But then I would not mind driving a Ford Ranger if I could afford the higher monthly payment either.

I looked at the Ridgeline years ago and saw the 14-15 mpg on the sticker and thought screw that. Were they really that bad on mileage? My 04 Taco was getting 18-19 at that time.

Three things they do really well...
1)In the bed there is a locking bin in the floor that is nice if you want lock stuff up and dont need a hard bed cover
2)the rear seats fold down a lot nicer if you want to stack tools on top of it.
3)The rear tailgate can open two different ways - my truck had this and i love not having to heaving heavy stuff over the tailgate

Being a Honda motorcycle guy I always swore I'd buy a pickup if Honda ever built one. Still waiting.

I am the same way. I actually considered the Ridgeline and test drove one. The ride was nice, but the ground clearance was a no go for me. I don't go off road in my truck, but I do need something that I can haul my ATV to the trails with, and getting to some of those places are not smooth roads.

Damn Honda... this is from a company who used to be such a bunch of luddites they still offered carbs in 1989 because it met their wonderfully ludicrous reliability standards.
