Hi folks. Unfortunately some low life broke my rear passenger window early this morning (12:30a) and took a bunch of personal and work related items that were not in plain sight, but still accessible in the cab. They also took my owners manual and all of the original purchase paperwork. The window was quickly replaced by safelight, but I’m out a pretty penny and pretty butt-hurt about the whole situation. My questions for you experts are: 1) What is the easiest way to replace the manual and paperwork 2) should I be concerned about any of the info in that paperwork aside from my address 3) is there a solution for making the under-seat storage in a double cab lockable?

Thanks in advance for any insight y’all can provide!

you can access the full owners manual through the Toyota app. if not you can purchase one from Toyota or online.

I would let the police know of the paperwork especially. They might try to put the truck in their name some how (I don’t know what was on the paperwork so I’m guessing)

Dealer can provide manuals, but you can get them electronically in the Toyota owners app. They should be able to provide some equivalent to the paperwork.

Underseat compartments and the console can be made lockable. Best bet is to not leave valuables, and even better, park off the street.

I would say the paperwork and manuals would get ditched pretty quick.

Correction, it's the behind the seat compartments

Depending what was on the paperwork, I’d be very concerned. Manual is online as others have said. Without knowing what was written on the paperwork, no one can help. Paperwork information will be different depending on how you bought the truck and the state you bought it in.

I’m in LA. Would love to move but my job is firmly rooted.

Thank you for this. It wasn’t in front of my house but even then I don’t have a garage that fits the truck. Lesson learned on the valuables, but leaving things in there is unavoidable at times so more security would be great.

Automotive finance manager here I can tell you that your contract will not provide the thieves much use . It’s just your name and address and phone number. Your social and credit app are kept off documents for reasons like this. Your contract is saved by the dealership along with any other documents you sign for up to 10 years in some states even more. They can provide all the copy’s for you.

Good news. Would the modification just be popping out the twist knobs and swapping for something that locks?

SS numbers, address, employment, income and signatures are all included on the paperwork. Invest in identity monitoring, file a police report and hope for the best.

Put one or two of these on the driver’s and passenger sides of your truck to alert you in your house when you park in the street overnight - mine is held in place on the side of my fuel door with a magnet (we don’t live on a busy street):

I have the Tuffy locker that mounts in the driver side cubby behind the rear seat. You can fit a ton of stuff in there.

Basically if you can fit it in the cubby profile, you can secure it with this.
