It’s Bed liner right? I’m not a fan of it on bodies, but it’s hard to get it wrong if you’re spraying it.

Ugh I don't want to type it all out again lol. Go back a few pages...I wrecked my fender and side mirror today sliding sideways off a trail into a dirt wall

Yeah, got lucky it happened to the other side. If it had been the snorkel side the damage wouldve been way worse

 

I guess you gotta LT now to handle those ruff roads better

 

Fenders are cheap so it’s not a big deal huh

 

Yeah, got a cheap aftermarket one hopefully it fits well. The mirror was cheap too. I'm more pissed about the big ass scratches on my door and hood that go down to the bare metal, but got some oem paint as well to hopefully make them less visible

My after market fenders fit pretty decent, one was missings bolt hole though, not a big deal though.

 

My shop teacher put it this way, if there is any catalyst in there, even if just a drop albeit mixed well it will dry fine. Its all about how long it takes to dry, more catalyst=less time.

If I had a baseball diameter puddle of putty, a puddle of catalyst the size of a quarter would be adequate for me and provide about 8-12 minutes or so of working time. Kneading the tube of catalyst is important too before using it.

Do a test to see for yourself, but most putties turn color once theyve been mixed well, just put enough in to get it to barely turn color once thoroughly mixed using a fold and spread method to reduce air bubbles.

Also, use glazing putty after youve gotten your filler sanded to your liking. The stuff works miracles on tiny imperfections.

 

I’m not doing a car or anything so I forgoed the glazing putty. That’s good advice about the catalyst, would’ve never thought. My infrared drying light worked great, it was completely dry in 10 minutes.

 

I dont think outside heat has anything to do with the drying time of body filler. Its an exo?thermic reaction, gets hot as it hardens. It dries just as fast in 20 degree weather as it does in 90. 10-20 mins depending on how much catalyst sounds right.

 

Huh, guess it’s a paint thing then.

I love that light, so convenient with our shitty California paint with sub standard hardener.

 

I sprayed my steel desk frame with clearcoat today on my covered back porch. It was 42 degrees and rainy with a strong wind. It still dried in 10 minutes. Just the cheap krylon gloss clear on top of raw steel.
