Wife and I went about a month after they opened. It was good, huge beer menu. Didn’t have a ton of options for us (vegetarian) but their food is good

Morning everyone, one more day of hockey left, pond has been great so far and should last us another day here. I'm already sore from yesterday, so today is going to be rough. Then another night of partying, which I'm even worse at these days than hockey:anonymous:

A shot from yesterday morning before we got going. Looks sort of wet in photo, but was nice and solid.

Are there similar enough careers where you won't have to do a total switch or is it more due to the company you are at?

Up and on the way to ice fish locally. Looks to be chilly this morning but should be nice to get out for a while. Happy Sunday :hattip:

I work in a niche portion of a trade.
I used to love what I do, and the money is excellent.
Now, I dread going to work, and stay simply because I dont know of we could take the cut.
Has been over 5 years since my last vacation.
Friends are telling me its time.
Wife wants me to find another shop, or even alter, or switch my career path.

Really just thinking out loud I have no idea how to solve this problem right now, and it is just making matters worse(feel trapped).
I know I have been pretty tight lipped about what I do...

How ever, I am toying with putting the wrenches down, and getting behind a mask for a few years in the mean time.

I have a question for everyone out their...

I have a 2013 Tacoma fitted with spider projector lights. Although they look cool my OEM light were much brighter. What I’m getting at is I want a plug and play housing with the most brightest possiable lights. I’m not worried about passing inspection and soon my rig will be for off road only. To be honest I would rather speed coin and get a high quality set up then having to deal with problems down the road..
PLEASE HELP, THANK GUYS & Gals for your input...

I don't know you besides this forum, but based off what you just wrote, I think it's time too. I have always held random jobs (not 9-5, not corporate etc..) so I don't know what to expect from a "real" job a lot of people have, but a vacation once a year is pretty regular, even if its a "staycation" and I bet your wife agrees! Hopefully you can make that switch, even if it's a little less money the enjoyment of your life will probably make it not matter.

Our manager worked 10 years somewhere before being with us, she made better money there and had better perks. BUT, She barely saw her kids, never saw her husband besides dinner and bed and was really starting to dislike the corporate direction it was moving. We pay her less and have worse benefits, but make sure she can ALWAYS get to her family or have them with her if needed. Her and her co-workers used to have to split taking personal days to watch everyones kids on snow days (lots of things like that). And since we can't afford to pay her more in money, we try to give her time for important (to her, we don't decide that) family events so she can be part of it. She is much happier, her husband is always thanking us and her kids LOVE coming to work with her and helping out. ---Long story short, sometimes taking a little financial hit, isn't a bad thing.

Again I don't know your nitty gritty, but I think a lot of times the hesitation, the stress of the decision and slow fall into hating your job etc... is a lot worse than just going for it. Either way, I wish you luck, seem to be a good guy!

I think there are a couple of options here, some of the guys who are more off-road junkies might have some better tips but here is what I can think of.

    1) Retrofit your headlights with a HID projector, can get super bright compared to stock and just as well as any LEDs, but will melt snow with the heat as well.
    2) Since you won't really be on road with them, I have seen some people put some baja design or rigid cube lights into their head light housing, this wouldn't be on-road legal but sure would light up the roads.
    3) Grab some ditch lights (basically cube lights) and some pre-made mounts for them, and leave your stock stuff alone. You wire right under the hood for an easy and clean instal, and super quick removal if you ever want to go stock.
    4) Any big light bar mounted would do it too.
    5) replace fogs with some cube lights as well

I have 70,000 lumen light bar and a pair of led Baja lights in the center of my grille but it’s not light enough. The bar is super bright but does cover certain areas were the headlights would:(.. Thanks for the info

I used to say, "I would scrub toilets for the right pay".

I have determined that to be a lie at this point.

Being the sole earner in the house, I am kinda stuck. Wife flies back to TX tomorrow night for a week. And she does this 2 or 3 times a year(her parents).

Without getting into numbers, the cut could be very substantial. I have not interviewed with anyone since last May, but, I cannot imagine much has changed.

The job I had before this one, I was truly happy. But, the market I was in, and the timing was terrible, and a choice had to be made to keep food on the table. 3 years later, here I am.....

Have Rob @mach1man001 find you a set of nice used headlight housings and swap back to stock. It you could retro them. I've not done it, but it doesn't seem that difficult.

I’m not sure exactly what you do, but have a general idea. I work for a construction management company and we’ve been making a shift and hiring people who spent their career in the trades to come to our side. They tend to be a combination of a suoerintendent and a project manager and we rely on their expertise to help us effectively manage whatever trade they came from. Having that sort of experience on our side of the table helps us as much as the trades. Not sure if you considered going to a larger contracting company where you’d be more of a desk person but still use the expertise you’ve gained over the years.
If you’re looking off road only, put some aftermarket pods on the truck. They will easily outshine any headlight options and can be focused to put light right where you need it.

That's why I hope people see the whole picture when I hire for a position. The starting pay for K-12 tech jobs isn't great at all (about equal to a first-year teacher's salary and they work around 50 more days per year), but I'd argue it'd be tough to find a better work environment.

I've always figured as long as I make enough to live comfortably without worrying about money, that's all I need. I won't trade happiness and having a job I enjoy going to every day for a larger paycheck.

It is something that has been on my mind.

A lot of the change, has to do with how my life has changed in the last year and a half.

Without putting too much out there, some health issues arose, and road was VERY bumpy while trying to sort out what was going on, and why. The sudden life changes, etc, basically spurred other changes in MY philosophies. Bosses were good, and let the situation play out.
But, my eyes are also wide open now to how..... precarious all of this is, and I want to enjoy what I can, while I can.

At some point, yes, I am going to end up behind a desk. Ive known, and accepted that for a bit now. The question has mostly been, when, and doing what....
