I recently bought a new house and my wife and I want to reduce some payments and free up some cash. So we are considering selling my truck. I looked up to see what they are going for at auction and it seems like 26k to 29k for a 16-17 with 20k miles on it. So my question is dose my lift, tires, bumper/winch, and roof rack add any value?

btw the replacement for the truck is going to be a 2011 750i I picked up for super cheap that needs a motor. not sure I will love it as much as the truck but it will be nice to have 400hp and a tt v8.

That bimmer May do the opposite of your intention to free up cash

I work on them for a living. I bought the car for 600 and will have 5k into it with a new engine.

Then that is a good move! I had a 1990 750 v12 in the 90s. Thing was amazing, just a money pit. If you have the ability to maintain, that is awesome!

TBH, your aftermarket mods will add very little if any to the value and in some cases may detract from it.

You're almost always better off removing them and returning the vehicle to stock, then sell the mods separately.

The MT will limit your marketability since the honest truth is that most people want an automatic.

That said, the rarity and desirability of the MT in a Tacoma will make it a prize for those specifically seeking the MT.

To that last point, a dealer won’t care as much about the rarity when giving you an offer. I would definitely go private sale on an MT to find that person who wants it as they are difficult to find.

    Exactly.

A dealer will see an MT as being desirable to a more limited pool of potential purchasers and will lowball you accordingly.

And they’ll know you’ll have problems finding a buyer if you go private if you’re in a time crunch. If you have a little bit of time I would wait for the right private buyer to get the best price. I think very high 20s seems fair. Maybe even 30-31 for the right private buyer esp if he wants the mods

Sell your mods if you can and return to as stock as possible, you'll get the most out of it that way. Private buyers rarely pay more for mods, and dealers dont care; they'll offer you same price with or without them.

Do you have a CarMax where you live? They'll quote you a price in 20 minutes and be willing to write you a check right then and there for the truck. Use that as a base line. Carmax uses sales and some algorythym on the sellability of that truck in current market to quote u a price.

I sold my 2013 tacoma X runner (6 speed) to them that way. I believe I could have made another 2k in a private sale but time is money to me so I just went the easy route.

Good luck! I have the same truck but a 2018

You'll have much better luck selling a MT here on TW than handing it off to carmax or the dealer.

True if you do not know how to work on them labor will kill you. But I have been working on them since they were brand new and know what I am getting into.

sounds like a good excuse for a road trip to me.

thanks guys. I think when I ready to sell it next month I will try and sell it as whole. If it dose not sell I will put it back to stock and sell it to a dealer or carmax

What is it... Like 4 G's to replace the tires on that 750i? Good luck.

My buddy bought a bimmer and had $7500 in repairs in the first year he owned it. I made sure to let him know what was half of what I paid for my is250 and the only thing I did to that car was oil changes and brakes.
