For now, yes. Although I did watch a video last night of the beast crawling in 480:1. Made 4.7:1 look like Formula 1.

I never knew that kit even existed. It'll fit Tacoma or FJ cases and it's a straight forward swap for your low range that changes your low range from 2.56;1 to 4.7:1, that's cutting your crawl speed in half.

    With enough gear reduction...

... you can creep through anything with insane torque. +6,000 ft/lbs at idle.

Sweet! I've seen videos of big mike's truck and that thing really crawls along, its crazy. You've got me starting to get the itch to put an FJ case in mine now too. There are a couple in new braunfels for around 250 with less than 100k on them. Might move up on my priority list as well..I think im gonna stick with the auto trans t-case since it is pretty straight forward. Will probably convert the truck to AWD later on, but for now i think this would be a nice cheap-ish upgrade to get rid of some of the electronic stuff on the truck.

Do you know how much you have to shorten the driveshaft if you're just swapping in the FJ case? i dont remember reading anything about this..

Dang I wish I'd seen them for $250 so close, I'd have just made the drive. Waiting for my case to ship out like

For 4wd Tacomas swapping in the (auto) FJ case, it's not required. Everything I've read says swap the input shaft, mount it, figure out what to do with the ADD, and you're done. Tacos and FJ's are basically the same vehicle mechanically.

They're so close, you can get the case from the automatic FJ and the shift boot from the manual FJ and make it look like this.

No further mods to make it look that good.

I dig that simple, factory look so much I'm considering skipping the twin sucks until I do the crawl box. I like a certain amount of subtlety.

By using a switch for the ADD you still have 2 Low as well.
