I've never used the key. Would definitely be interested in a smaller fob.

As someone with the pop n lock and the passenger smart handle I like the idea of the smaller FOB. I never take my keys out of my pocket, but still want then attached to my keychain, which you can't really do with the Lexus style. This would be the perfect in-between for me. I say go for it!

I purposefully only got one of the AJT fobs since I heard you were contemplating something like this ;). Can't wait to see the final product man. :fingerscrossed:

Thanks for all the input guys. Just to be clear.. This would not be a substitute for the Lexus credit card. My intentions were to make a slimmer and sleeker fob that retained the lock/unlock buttons. Hence the “minimalist” theme. It won’t be for everyone, as a few people have chimed in that they use the spare key daily(this is crazy to me). I just hate stock things, have a bunch of keys on my ring, and need something slimmer to fit in my hipster pants:)
I initially wanted to do Al but worried about transmission degradation through a metal case. I have some prototypes coming out of the printer this week, after some testing, I will open a mold up for them. That way I’ll be able to shoot any color plastic fobs; quicksand, white, inferno, etc. The lower metal key chain tab insert will be laser cut from steel or titanium for the best durability.
Before anyone jumps on me for copying “x brand” ..this has a totally different design goal. Plus, there’s only so much you can do with the given perimeters of a key fob. Thanks again, and stay tuned:D

At least hope the back has a certain trademarked logo or it’s simply blank so if you want a certain trademarked logo on the back that can be done...unlike the other x brand

It's a betting game throwing trademarked logos on your own products. Even though the logo is whored out everywhere...but if the product gets popular enough and corporate catches wind..you might have a CnD on your hands. In the 3D print realm, this isn't a deal breaker as you just alter the CAD. If it's in a tool mold it's a little more difficult. I might chance it... we'll see

It's Meso, I am buying it! I even have two TRD black ones from the other guy.

@mesojdm you need to get some shirts/hats made or something -- I know you're slammed with everything else but I bet a ton of people would purchase and it would be an easy revenue generator for you.

I've created a similar fob case and 3d printed it. I love the smaller size and created mine to magnetically attach to my Fantom wallet. The total package wallet and fob is roughly the same size as my S7 edge phone. Phone goes in one front pocket, wallet and fob in the other. I slimmed it down as much as I was comfortable and used magnets to attach to the wallet.

With this configuration I can simply press the buttons through my pants or just use the smartkey to lock/unlock the truck with the door handle.

I'd definitely be interested in a higher quality small fob! It would be cool to have some attachment options for interfacing with other items I carry to better manage things in my pockets.

Throw the Meso logo down the side. Would look pretty cool and be subtle. Plus if anyone wants to throw a “x corp” decal on the back they still can without covering your logo or sanding it off (you know who you are mister!).

Super rough prototype. Main goal was checking internal fitment of the PCB and waterproof seal. Now that's confirmed, I can start doing some designs on the outside shell. I am also thinking about making my own buttons instead of transferring over the stock ones. Overall I love the slimmer design..feels more like a remote than a brick.

Hard to capture size comparison, but it's a good deal narrower, and a tad shorter.

Again.. super rough. Just a concept but it's looking good. Any constructive criticism is welcome!

Looks good so far, will the key loop bar be made out of some soft of metal?

Does anyone know if there are blanks of the physical key in the fob? Something that might blend in with normal keys? I often use my key to lock my glovebox for security, but will definitely be picking one of these up also.

A slimmer key fob would be great, but I’d be concerned if the slim key weren’t attached to it. I’ve had a fob battery die on me, and the only thing that saved me was the slim key. I suppose you could keep the magnet case hidden somewhere in your truck, but my paranoid self would still be worrying that it would get stolen.

I like this idea. I never carry keys just the fob in my coin pocket every day. Some coin pockets are slimmer than others tho & this would be good!
