Not something I want to do when it's freezing or raining out.

It’s a comparison thread.. and for halogen, there’s a happy ground between between performance, life expectancy.. and then your z axis is price. $50~ every few months may not be a lot of money, but it’s more than $0 every few months for a bulb with longer life.

If the modified Hella H9 cable is produced large scale, he’s already said he prefers it due to longer life + near same performance. It’s all in what you want.

Yeah. Had to jump a car in -15° a few weeks ago. It was quicker than changing bulbs, and that was miserable.

now I'm just being silly - so you don't put gas in your truck when it's raining?
It takes longer to fill your tank.

A big reason I was happy to trade in my outback is how hard the headlights were to change. They invariably went out when it was -20F or colder; It ate three sets of bulbs in one winter. To change the lowbeam, you had to drop the fender liner and reach in through the fender from the wheel well. The Tacoma is a dream by comparison and really couldn’t be easier.

Most people don’t care about performance of any sort except cheapness and longevity. I prefer being able to see where I’m gonna at night.

Again, this depends on vehicle. On my 2nd gen, removing the rubber dust boot and fighting that metal clip in 10° weather while my hands are going numb isn't fun. Nor do I want to chance getting water in the headlamps.

Pumping gas requires less effort. I can set the clip (on most pumps) and keep my hands in my pockets while I wait

Yes, this. I guess this bolded part is my point. I'm willing to spend 30seconds changing my bulb (even in -20) for this.
Also, not arguing with other posters though - to each their own.

I had 2 of these cars. Changing bulbs was a nightmare in freezing weather

I am willing to give them a try if the GE’s ever come back in stock haha I may go the H9 route if the cable gets made. I should probably buy the H9’s now as I’m sure those will go out of stock as soon as the new cable drops (if it does).

A minute to change out a bulb isn’t a big deal to me either way. I change my oil outside in the winter so changing a bulb would be cake. Getting moisture in a headlight though would stink..

I always wondered why that metal clip was used. Seemed like a hassle compared to most other methods I've seen (especially when it would fall out).

Not everybody sucks. The 2018 Camrys equipped with LEDs got a good (top) rating. That gives hope for the 2020 Tacoma’s.

The metal clip is used on the 9003 / H4 bulbs because that's the way that particular base is designed to be held in. The "twist lock" system used on most other bulbs is a whole lot more user friendly if you ask me. But when you add the next to impossible access (on the passenger side) and "user hostile" clip and rubber boot setup on our 2nd gen trucks, you understand why some folks drink - heavily.

Ha. Yep, exactly. I didn't realize that metal clip was specific to the bulb. The clip fell out the first time I changed bulbs in my 2nd gen. Turned a 15 minute job into an hour!

Just received my order of these after seeing your post, the back says Made in South Korea.

Also have the GE H11s coming in, but they were taking so long from overseas. I'll just throw those in the fogs when they arrive.

Still feels counter-intuitive that these say standard and the GEs are +130, but the data is the data. Thanks, @crashnburn80 and @Critical05

The ones Rallylights sells manufactured by Osram are in a single box. I’m not certain that the blister pack is the same, but it seems likely if manufactured in South Korea.

*Osram ones, make in South Korea.

I read over on candlepower that these GE Xenon are the US version of the Megalight 130's. Anyone know if this is true? The blue coating is on the top instead of the base of the bulb, but other than that, could they be the same bulb?

Yes, though the Xenon series is much more expensive, as in 2x the price. What I’m unsure of, is if there are any differences in output from the European branded version vs the US version.
