For the right buyer, that truck will be very attractive, because it's new enough to finance at a low APR, and it has some quality mods and an MT. The right buyer is probably more likely to be found on TW or FB market linked from one of the FB Taco groups. I would have been all over a 2 yr truck with 20K. I looked and looked when I finally decided the few thou extra for a brand new truck was worth it... most of the '14-16's I looked at when I bought a '17 were WAY overpriced and had maintenance issues.

If you are doing your own wrenching... how did you get from $600 to $5k?

FWIW, you would have been much better off picking up a $3500 E46 or E39 in nice running condition than fixing a $600 750, IMO. They are a dime a dozen, easy to find with a manual, lots of aftermarket and more fun to drive. But on straight finances... either one works. Good luck with the sale. It's a sweet truck.

the comments on my poor choice are awesome. I bought the once 98k car for 600 bucks with a blown engine. the guy refused to repair some oil leaks and just kept putting oil in the car. eventually a oil line that had been quoted for repair many times failed and the engine lost all of its oil. Bmw has dropped the price on the engines to try and help restore some of the value in the cars. A brand new engine from bmw with a 2 year warranty is going for around 4k retail plus labor to install. Since i work for bmw as a tech I get the parts for close to cost and labor is just my lost free time. I will have a nice running car for less than half of what its worth. I am well aware of the short comings of the car and engine.

hope this helps settle your guys fears of my poor choice in cars.

bmw dose not use a 10 speed. The 8 speed has had very little issues other than a rare whine noise in reverse and a few had a porous case. The car i have has the zf6hp26 and is pretty reliable in its later versions and is basically the same transmission that comes in mustangs and older v8 raptors as well as many other car manufactures.

Edit: realized your meant the older 6spd

You’re choice man. I just remember when I had my pos 323 there was always a 7 series with transmission issues at the independent bmw shop, you do you.

Well your talking to Toyota Tacoma owners, we buy and drive off the lot and we lost $1000.00 maybe. 750i owners can buy a Tacoma with the money they lost driving off the lot.

All things said I understand your logic, but money pit none the less.

Do NOT do that. I know it sounds like a great idea, but its a horrible mistake. I did the exact same thing back in August. I had a 2012 and sold it to free up cash. Well long story short, I gave up a nice, reliable vehicle for something that was the exact opposite of those things. I ended up losing about $4000 and buying a new Tacoma anyway.
I love my new truck, but selling my old one to save money was probably the single biggest financial mistake I've ever made, and in my top three worst mistakes in general. Keep your truck, stick it out, and be happier in the long run.

OP, are you currently a homeowner? Houses have a tremendous ability to eat up free time. It may seriously cut down your wrenching time. Just something to keep in mind.

Otherwise sell the mods, they add no value.

    Good luck.

What year is it? I have a 2017 OR manual with 20k and I just priced it out at $29-$30k private, 26-28 trade (Ohio area). Deff a good idea to sell as many mods as possible and return to stock if you go either route.

Take me for example, I wouldn't want 17" rims or a lift on my off road truck so those things would eliminate your truck from consideration. I wouldnt hassle with changing them when there are a million others out there I could buy. Everyone has their particulars so it's doubtful they care to pay for your mods (not that they aren't tastful). Most folks want a blank canvas to start with (if they even do any mods at all).
