No 1st gen and 2nd have different ball joints for (ironically) this problem. 1st gens use those four bolts (want to say they are M10?) whereas the 2nd gens use 2 larger bolts (m16?)

Just to get it on the trailers...and since you just did this....have your friend grab vice grips so you can remove the broken stubs. Go to the hardware store and grab 4 new 10.9 grade M10 bolts....take a broken one with you to make sure you get the right thread pitch (or buy four 1.25 and four 1.5 pitch). Then just reassemble the ball joint with the new bolts (utilizing a jack and whatever else you need). Be enough for you to at least get it on and off a trailer to where ever you need it....or since you said 1 mile you could limp it home

Yeah, I'm not sure I have any better ideas. Find a log to jam under the frame rail and use as a skid maybe.

@Goran the bolts are M10x1.25, about 35mm long. Looks like you may have stripped the threads out of the knuckle, I would inspect that real close once you get it home.

If you jack it up high enough and get stands under the frame behind the front wheels, you can back the trailer underneath the front end far enough to drag it the rest of the way.

Well it’s up on the trailer.
Cv is gone, need new studs for the lbj.
Anything else I should get that normally goes when these things happen ?

Well I guess all things considered.. I got off pretty easy with only a broken cv. Everything else looks to be in good shape even the lbj. Never seen 4 bolts shear like that before under just normal use...

Yeah I've wanted one, and after driving the loaner truck it will be my next purchase. Probably not as new though.

Hey, I plowed snow for the last 7 days and didn't fuck up a curb or a high dollar car. The tundra was a fluke... :anonymous:

Glad it isnt tooooo much damage. Broken CV is thankfully an easy replacement.

I dont know the cost of them but if the LBJ's for a 1st gen arent terribly expensive i would just replace it. It made contact with the ground and also experience not normal loads/conditions which for me is going to lean towards replacement just for peace of mind

While replacing the hub on my truck this weekend I discovered my Icons have a broken coil. Anyone have a spare set of coils they want to sell? 650lb I think is the standard spring rate on those, right?

I'm a bit limited on my travel radius currently, I can meet you in the Issaquah area if needed.

They aren't pretty, but they're not broken. Powder coat is chipped in a few spots.
