I had my truck in dealership for front diff replacement per t-sb. On my next oil change they told me I didn't have a skid plate. dealer didn't do oil change. What should I do?

Can you go back to the shop that did the oil change? If not, you’ll have to buy a new one (and the hardware).

The stock skid plate is stronger than most think. Several months ago I had the whole front off the ground with a floor jack and before I could put jack stands under, it slipped off onto the skid which supported the weight of the vehicle and saved my front diff from getting banged up.

Yeah there's some deep gouges in my skid. It definitely helps. They're better than most think.

Can you be completely certain that the dealership left it off? People steal random things off of and out of vehicles for a staggering array of douchebag reasons.

Bummer, go there and talk with the service manager. Maybe it's still there? Give them a chance to make it rigThis.

I'm gonna call tomorrow but I would of thought they would have contacted me when they discovered a big piece of metal laying around. I have had a bad time dealing with them on T-SB and recalls on my truck. Worst experience of having a new vehicle and dealing with service dept. Green Toyota of Springfield IL

Has anyone etched, marked, their skid to try to identify their skid should it show up somewhere, either at dealer after service or craigslist just because?

I can't see why a dealership would intentionally 'steal' a stock skid plate...I could understand maybe an aftermarket one but why a stock one? I'm betting they took it off to do the oil change and forgot to put it back on, maybe set it aside and didn't see it until later and had no way of knowing who it belonged to. Can't hurt to go back and ask them but if it's been awhile, they may have just gotten rid of it. Good time to upgrade

I am not saying they stole it. They just did not reassemble it. They where the last to service the truck
