Tacoma - OVTUNE - VFTUNER - Update Info and Original Development

Has anyone compared the part numbers for the cams/valves/springs with the Camry top end?

 

You have an amazing attitude for first thing in the morning, especially with this crowd

 

I've spoken to Toyota directly about it. I was at the Engine Manufacturing facility last week. They both have the exact same internals per Toyota.
They also confirmed for me everything inside the engine is drop forged. VS the 2GR-FE which is all sintered iron.
They walked me through the engines entire assembly. Crank, rods, pistons. Amazing stuff.
Even with the software bugs Toyota is an amazing company for how they treat their employees and run their plants.

What's most surprising is nearly *everything* is made 100% in USA. These cars are more American than Chevy lol

It will definitely take some getting used to though. I'm only on my 2nd drive but at highway speeds on the way to work this morn it seemed hard to get it to go faster to pass someone aka it wouldn't downshift (I guess out of habit I was trying not to press too hard to avoid that too low downshift). There was still power however to pick up speed gradually.

 

04B02, 04B03, 04A60, 04A61 will be worked on today. (along with other fixes)

 

I’m joining in late. We have 206 pages on this thread. Is there a YouTube video showing a 0-60 in a straight line (factory vs. tune)?

 

Thanks. Very intuitive, you've got a near 60 YO data logging! Will you be adding other PIDs later? Didn't see misfire or knock count.

 

I drove about 45 miles to work this morning and I'm getting more of the same thing. That makes a total of about 70 miles I've put on the tune Not saying it's anything caused by the tune at all but my truck sucks to drive right now. Any throttle input in 5th or 6th beyond enough to maintain speed causes the truck to shudder until it hits about 18-1900 rpms or upshifts into a gear that gets it out of that low rpm range.

 

If you experience any issues : submit info to zendesk including ECU ID, tune that was flashed, etc.

Some of these issues are present and has existed since stock, before tuning.
I didn't expect our fixes would work on every truck. You'd see the numerous issues and work through from the stock calibration if you read all of this.

. For the most part the newest ecu TSB flashes from Toyota takes care of *most* issues, to make the truck at least drive better, but before that it was just horrendous.
