Small vibration in the back after a wheel swap (same stock tires). Happens around 50+ mph every 5-10 seconds. Took it back to discount tire and rebalanced them and put better fitting lugnuts on but it’s still there. Only had the truck two weeks and I don’t remember the stock wheels having that vibration. Maybe it’s in my head and it’s normal road vibration?

Try rotating back to front and see if issue follows tires...

Make sure one of the TPMS sensors isn’t broken off rolling around inside the tire.

Wouldn’t that be discovered during the balance process? My limited physics understanding suggests centrifugal force would hold the sensor steady and allow for a balance, but it would move as the tire stopped. The operator would apply a balance weight, recheck and the tire would be out of balance again... issue would repeat over and over.

And my truck would give a warning for low pressure if it was broken off. This might sound dumb but would running the tires at a little higher than recommended be a cause? Have them at 34 when the door says 30.

Nope... you may have a little more bounce and very slight rougher ride, but that’s all... +4 lb’s is not going to affect balance.

You mentioned in OP, that they put BETTER fitting lug nuts on? Did they have wrong style on first?

Apparently 4WP gave me ones that were a little too short and discount tire said I needed EL lugs (extra long?).

Ask for a road force balance. Then do a tire swap best for worst. That will prove out the tire vs the wheel. Then replace the bad component.

Ok, so did you drive around with the short lugs? If so, are wheels damage now from driving around with wrong lug nuts?

I would pull a wheel and check lug nut seats, and stud holes on those wheels. Since wrong lug nuts were installed, first time around.

No dice. Also noticed a small steering wheel shake at 70+. Is that normal?

I’m not fully understanding... issue remained in the back, plus there is now a vibration (wheel shake) in the front? No, that’s not normal at all.

If you still have the vibration in the rear, then as others have suggested, check the lugs now as that is the only change made.

Basically stayed the same. Just happened to notice the steering wheel shakes a little at higher speeds, could of been there prior and just now noticed. Might just have the dealer check it out.

Yeah, they may have more experienced mechanics than discount tire... unfortunately may charge for diagnosis and fix. I’d look over the tire lugs carefully first (or have discount do it). Appearance of front vib is concerning, points to multiple concurrent failures, somewhat unusual.
