When I find Weller SR is $23-25. $200 is robbery, wouldn't spend a penny in that store.

JESUS, $200 for Weller! That's gotta be a joke! I was feeling guilty about paying $65 for a 1.75. Stoked you found that pretty 30th bottle. Outta curiosity are you a Baker's/Basil fan as well or strictly Bookers? @bvbull200

I'm not much for Baker's. At least I wasn't a few years ago. Might be worth revisiting, however.

Basil Hayden's is fine enough. I tend towards spicy, hot, high proof bourbons, none of which describe Basil, but it is a very approachable, easy to enjoy whiskey when you don't want the challenge of something bolder. That's the standard stuff, anyways. The Dark Rye is a trainwreck in my opinion. Haven't had the Two by Two.

I wish they'd make a 100 proof version of the standard affair Basil. I hoped the 10 yr would be that, but it isn't. I suppose that's the space Baker's lives in, though, so I kind of understand.

    Booker's, however, I'm a huge fan of.

I haven't been able to find a bottle of Hibiki Harmony anywhere for months, save for one small store that marked it up to over $100. I'm starting to lean back to the rumor I heard that it may not be available in 2019. I found this article while searching for info. Looks like Beam Suntory has a new whiskey coming out that combines product from the distilleries it owns in the U.S., Scotland and Japan.

A buddy of mine said the same thing. At that valuation, I've gone through about a thousand dollars worth of Weller Special Reserve in the past year.

What was weird was that the prices on the non-allocated stuff was pretty reasonable for Wisconsin (at least what I've compared to other stores up there). Weller Special Reserve would be $200. Blanton's $140. Then they had High West Campfire for $50 (about $65-70 for me). I did not want to give them any money, but they did have an Old Ezra 7 Barrel Proof for $38. A little on the high side, but well under secondary. I went ahead and picked that up. @BearfootGypsie , that means I have a bottle, now. I'll still offer you up something if I come across a bottle you might be interested in or if I have anything closed that I'd clear out to make a little room. Otherwise, I'll check with the others in my whiskey club and see if they have anything to trade that might be of interest to you! Thanks again for the offer.

    Sittin' on $1,800.

I talked to one of the employees there. He wasn't the owner, but was like second in command or something. He was talking about how they get those bottles, then sit on them at those prices because they can make big money. It is there prerogative, I agree, but I think it also makes them a bit prickish at some of those prices. They aren't charging prices that the market set - they are charging prices that they might get away with to an uninformed customer. Someone will walk in, wanting to spend $200 on a bottle for a special occasion/gift and not know what to look for. That is the person that will get shown that WSR, rely on the pricing and employee recommendation, then pay 9 times the bottle's value for something that isn't that coveted (relative to other $200 bottles). Buyer beware, I suppose.

I know where there is a liquor store with a 20yr bottle of Pappy that they told me they wanted $8k for. I literally laughed in the dude's face.

Me and the Taco went on a day trip a couple counties South over the weekend. Went to new ABC store supposed to be the nicest in the state. Much better selection than what I can get locally. Still state run, so nothing super rare or anything. I did get these below which I had never seen in any of my local stores.
That Elijah Craig is 131 proof! But by far my favorite is that 1792 Bottled in Bond. My goodness is it ever goooood!

Probably, but I'll have to go back. I was traveling this weekend up in Wisconsin and wasn't on much or paying too close attention.

Which batch of Elijah Craig Barrel Proof is that? I'd consider that a VERY good score. I love the stuff, but can't easily find it around here.

You did damn well with that get.

I've gotten it around here before, but it took some luck. Normally it is either sold at MSRP the moment it hits the shelf or some knucklehead is charging $100+ for it.

I had to get a buddy to pick up a B518 for me. Can't seem to be at the right place at the right time to snag any of them out here in Houston.

I Googled this store before I went and it said it opened on February 13th. I thought new store we will hope for the best. I bet they had at least 10 bottles of ECBP on the shelf. I got to talking to the manager before I left. And he said they did open February 13....of 2018.
