Yeah, my crawler isnt real good for grocery duties so I have been taking my FJ out a lot this season. All the nannies suck in our type of snow. I have only used CC on steep rocky descents and it rocked for that purpose, didnt do jack for me in a snow bank. My pizza cutter ST Maxx werent anything special either(biggest let down). Luckily an ABS switch was my first mod in the FJ and Tundra.

I am actually disapointed in the overall experience in my FJ on 3”+ snow covered roads. But as you know it is extremely hard to stay objective when getting out of a built truck that can smash snowy covered trails/streets and into a ifs rig with smaller tires. Maybe I can fit some iroks on my FJ, that would improve it. I have been trying to stay under 35s though cause I find myself seriously think about SASing it and I need to keep this one IFS so the wife can drive it while on the phone and doing her makeup.

Anyways, what wheelbase and WMS are you going to run on your chrysler?

How big is your roof? DIY and save tons of cash. I have done 3 roofs for family members and you will be shocked on how cheap the actual materials are, even if you have to replace decking. For instance last year I did a 12 square roof, just me and a couple family members. Low bid was $13k and we got it done with almost all new decking, arch shingles, #30 felt and Ice&Water for $4k. Worked about 3 weekends for free but it was a significant cost reduction.

Some roofers will let you do the tear off, to save you some cash.

But we are really limited to what roofing contractors we have up here, so down in the valley it may not be much cheaper to DIY it.

I can ask. Not really trying to do it myself. Time is money and i dont have a whole lot of time. Got qouted 6k from a compa. Lol. He was reffered by a very good friend and his work is solid.

I dont mean this in any sort of offensive way, but 4/5 DIY installs i see have problems, sometimes my report will basically say "tear it off and try again". Now... again im not judging anyone (Ive had homeowners get quite hostile after i break the news to them). All i will say is, I can help and... please read the instructions lol

Dont do no multiple layer, home depot shingle, no line snapping, crooked course having, shit nailing pattern, no vent having, sloppy ass drip edge, sloppy ass trim, flashings painted post install, shit exposure, corner cutting, my "30 year shingle only lasted 20 years", shit.

then again, fuck me and my opinions, i only do this shit 5-6 days a week, going on 6 years (as an inspector). I've seen too many roofs to keep my mouth shut (about 8,000+ just with this company).

As much as i beat on my yj i never snapped an axle, but the spider gears shattered on me. Good thing i had a ford 8.8 waiting in the garage

 

Yeah, multiple layers will shave off 15-25% of the life of the roof easily, sometimes more.
Ive just seen too many "cheap/budget/homie" installs that literally make my day-to-day job harder than it has to be. Not saying that will be the case here, for every contractor theres an inspector who will degrade his *hard* work. And for every inspector theres 5 more contractors saying the inspector is a kook and that "that roof is just fine".

Just speak up if you want help, or even a 2nd/3rd/27th opinion. At work, we're held liable for what i write/type. But what i say is a different story.

Too often do i say "Yeah, this/that looks like shit, he shoulda done it this way, my report will say as such...... but it aint gunna leak, i wouldnt waste your money fixing it"
