I've searched to no avail - does anyone else think the 3rd gen's steering wheel is kind of stiff? I owned 2 x 2nd gen's, which had a very "free" and "easy" steering wheel. I mean little effort/force to turn the wheel, I much prefer this. The 3rd gen wheel feels more like a BMW (extremely hard to turn, very locked in on center).

Any chance there's something I can do electronically or mechanically to ease it up?

2018 OR 2wd. I've put on bilsteins 5100's with ome 887 coils, headstrong progressive aal, and jba uca's. I run 1.05 ovtune as well. But the "stiff steering" has been constant, both stock and after all mods. I believe this is as the truck was designed, I don't think there's anything wrong with my truck. Was more asking in general why the 3rd gen steering wheel feels more stiff.

I've noticed the same thing. I've got a 2nd gen on 35 MT tires and weighs over 7000lbs for camping and offroading. I recently replaced my old DD with a 2019 4x4 sport long bed. I was expecting the new 3rd gen to feel lighter, quieter, and with easier steering. Its only a little of each of those things. The steering is the one that shocked me the most, it basically feels identical to my obese 2013. :notsure:

My steering feels just like a truck, stiff and deliberate movement... just as expected from Toyota engineering.

This is going to sound nuts and no doubt I agree... but I have experienced stiffer steering (considerably) depending on the fuel I use which I tested many time in my first year of ownership. Makes no sense but it has been a fact I my truck that some fuel seems to for some reason make steering stiffer or lighter. I’ve run exclusively shell 93 for the last year and a half and my steering is firm but light... but as with anything on these trucks YMMV.

Mine feels a bit overboosted and very easy to turn, which I prefer in a pickup.

Coming from a 14 F150 FX4 on 35s, my 19 DCLB definitely has tighter steering then my Ford did. Feels like its "breaking in" and getting easier though. 700miles on the odometer lol.

Seems about the same as every car I've ever driven with power steering, give or take. :notsure:

Let me guess? You’re going to say the 1st and 2nd Gens somehow have better steering? Like different power steering pumps or some shit like that?

Please don’t tell me this. Please don’t.

You want stiffer steering otherwise bumpsteer is a real pain in the ass when off-roading. It’s also not a car

I think the steering is too light. Too much bump steer is my one complaint with it.
