I've got a '07 white Double Cab short bed with 305k. I'm the 2nd owner. But I was there when it was bought by its first owner, one of my best friends, and rode home in it.

Made him promise to sell it to me when he was done with it. Only took me 8 years to get it from him. He took amazing care of the thing. This is not an exaggeration, he used to have a LX 470 and loved the Lexus techs so much he'd bring the Taco in for service about 25% of the time there. Yeah he has more money than sense, which I've told him trust me, but the point is I got the truck.

I love my truck and I am jealous of yours. And not just because you've got 12 inches on me big guy. Keep the truck. You can't unring that bell. You'll know when the time is right.

@Chiloquin_Car_Care please take a picture of the manual where it says:

according to toyota, a properly running 1gr-fe motor will consume .5 qts of the 5.5qts.

I looked in my manual and i could not find this information. It would be important to know if this is correct.

    Thank you

And if you think 0-60 times are better after an oil change I have a plot of land on the moon I can sell you.

This thread started out great and took a nosedive when it turned into an oil thread...how shocking.

OP, great write up in your first post. We have similar stories vehicle-wise. I use mine as a company vehicle, a 2015 DCLB with 205K on the clock, but do most of the maintenance myself thanks to the DIY tips I get on this forum.

Been offered a new 3rd gen but I’m too attached to this baby...gonna hang on until at least 300K and re-evaluate...

OP, Keep going with what works for you! You've surpassed 300k with success so far. Keep it going! Not everyone is going to agree with everyone else and there's no problem with that. We all have different outlooks on things. to 400k!

Exactly. OP, You have had over 2,000 people view this in short amount of time. There's going to be a percentage of those folks who agree with certain maintenance items/schedules and others who don't. Don't let it get to you. The folks who like the story and details you shared are all appreciative you stopped in and took the time to share.

My vote: Keep it going until the day comes that you don't enjoy doing the work to keep it going (either because of interest in a new truck, reliability shifts for the worse aka sheer worn out finally, etc).

    Cheers

    you are absolutely correct

your comments make me want to stay on board
& continue providing insight on a high mileage gen 2 taco
(the most popular midsize truck in the US!)
Im sure that there are many owners out there with 50k, 100k, 150k+ miles on their taco
wondering how long it can keep running
& hearing that someone made it to 300k without ever visiting an auto shop must be inspiring & confidence building

2007 SUPER WHITE DCSB Prerunner with shell 201k miles and still going strong, full compression and does not burn oil. I do baby the truck. But it does everything I need it to do. I have had them all, F250, 3/4 ton Dura Max, Nissan Titan, Nissan Frontier. Nothing has performed like this little truck. I use full synthetic and went completely thru it when I bought it, and I just really treat The truck well and expect a minimum of 300k out of this truck
