2001 3.4L SR5. What’s missing under my hood?

ABS actuator?

 

I think that’s where the cruise control module goes.

 

Cruise control works, just tested it.

 

It could be the abs. I’ll run out to my truck in just a sec and see what I have right there.

Not all 1st gen Tacomas has anti-lock brakes. My 01 didn't.

 

Correct. Not all 1st gen have abs. If your truck do, it'll be located there. Same as cruise control unit on some model.

 

Would there be a wiring harness if it didn’t? I think I have an ABS light on the dash, but I’ll have to double check

 

On mine its the cruise control. Check that the cruise control actually works, and its not just the light that comes on.

 

Was just on the interstate and used it. The only think odd I noticed was a series of fast clicks from under the dash when I pushed the brakes and turned it off

 

03-04 model are the only tacoma i know that don't have the physical cruise control unit cause it's controlled differently. Pre-03 have the control unit from my understanding.

 

Based on your picture, the cruise control plug is wrapped together inside your red box. Your tacoma don't have abs, i don't see the plug for the pump. If your CC work, might have an aftermarket unit.

 

So like it was removed and then an after market unit was installed?

 

I bet you have an aftermarket Rostra system. Is your stalk on the steering wheel and turns with the wheel?

 

You’re missing the washer fluid relocation mod and an on board air compressor.

 

Yep, it's an aftermarket cruise control unit.

 

So the wiring harness in the engine bay was put in trucks that didn’t come with cruise?

 

In my 1995 That is where my washer fluid reservoir sits.
