2nd Gen side steps or running boards?

Do all 2 Gen Tacos have pre drilled holes for aftermarket side steps or running boards?.....thanks

 

Yes. There should be black plastic screws over the holes from the factory.

i think you should get sliders instead but thats my 2 cents!

 

Ok, sliders. . . Please enlighten me. I have an '06 taco ext. cab. Don't really need a bar that goes all the way; no one gets into the "seats" in the back. Even a step at each of the full-sized doors will work, but nothing I can find locally attaches to the frame. Ideas?

I don't like running boards on these trucks (or any truck for that matter) at all! Buy sliders!

 

I'm thinking about it, if they were stainless, not slick on top (so I can use them for steps into the main part of the cab), and not too long. I am rebuilding the "road" by hand, so I'm not likely to be going over an large rocks (because I've removed them already and we keep the grass in the center cut so we can see any rocks that might have rolled down onto the road), but I do need a step of some sort because of my back condition. Our climate is so brutal on most metals, that aluminum and stainless seem to be the only way to go. (I have a custom-built rack on the truck, all aluminum with stainless hardware, for example.) My trailer is aluminum, too. The steel ones at Home Depot are rusting on the lot before they're even sold.
