I have a 2006 Toyota tacoma 4x4. I just put some 285/75/16's on it. My next mod will be a tool box and I'm not concerned about the color scheme as much as I am about the chrome fading or the black peeling. Which tool box would ya'll recommend, black or chrome, and what name brand would ya'll recommend that would sustain the time and elements? Thanks Brother Tacoma owners and Tacoma World is AWESOME!!

    I don't have a recommendation except that I think black is overrated:anonymous:

Chrome says "Look at me, grab your crowbar and see what I have inside for you."

My UWS held up really well for 5 years.

Black.... Ive had both and stainless is HORRIBLE. It somehow reflects not only blinding sunlight at times when opening it, but the HEAT somehow slaps u in the face too.

    Besides, subdued ftw

Black and opt for the chest version that goes inside the rails. Just a little cleaner look.

You meant 'shiny aluminum' right? As in no one chromes a tool box.

So the question is how abusive are you? The black will eventually nick and chip if you bang it a bunch.

And while I'm not a fan of the lingering murdered out / Knight Rider look, I'd probably use a black tool box. Mostly because if the finish got wonky it would be easy to redo with monstaliner

I have a shell and been looking for a box that fit inside the rails for a while and no luck.

    Brand/Models?

You can have it in any color you want as long as it’s black.

mine was aluminum but had it painted black from a friend who does paint and body work, didn't want to afford a $300 or $400 toolbox.. hard to find a black one for cheap without being beat to hell...but yes the aluminum will blind the shit out of you at the most random time and black will just be hot to the touch...i say black after having both
