205 English mastiff ride on the seats with a towel on them. Head and tail pokes out the window , took him once to the park in it but luckily have a larger suv for long trips.

I have a 60 lb Boxer mix who basically owns the back seat lol. I have one of those hammock style covers going from front to rear headrests. She has plenty of room to roam around and lay down. I tried the folded seat method but she just slid around everywhere... not ideal.

I'd suggest using something along those lines to keep pup in place. I think until pup gets big enough maybe keep in a small crate while driving just for safety sake if wife has the other one in lap. As others have suggested a harness to keep em buckled in is a great ideal esp for a rowdy pup. Basically set up for pup to be safe but comfy.

We have a large German Shepherd as well and just put a blanket down on the back seats. Just had a baby though so the truck doesnt really work with the dog and a rear facing car seat back there so we are selling it for something else.

You are gonna want seat covers or a hammock. My corgi is small so I also use a crate, but he’s only 30 pounds. My dog loves water so the crate and the hammock keep the mud, dirt, water and hair pretty well contained.

Using the bed is simply not an option in Texas.

We have had five German Shepherds and two access cab Tacomas. I did the same as this guy and it works great. For short trips my pooch just sits on one of the seats, but for anything longer than across our small town I put in the platform. Oh yeah, Shepherds are great dogs and very intelligent. I hope you are ready to relinquish any control you may have around your house.

That’s ideal if the environment doesn’t prohibit it.

It’s top secret :) I would also never recommend them as pets. Overall he has turned out great but they are far from being a pet dog

We decided that our 110lb White German Shepherd was just too big for the back seat so I bought him a Jeep and drive that anytime the dog needs to go anywhere. I did build a platform for my first 3rd Gen but he also sheds white fur like crazy so less time in the truck is better for everyone.

Can't imagine what that would look like. Plenty of air circulation/ventilation back there, and I have fans that hook on the end of the kennel as well.

I set the same fan up to blow heat to the back there when I drove them out to Colorado in the fall, also have insulated covers.
Maybe I'll leave them home if there is a volcano erupting around me, or something that might endanger them.

90lb shiloh shepherd rides in the back seat with a hammock cover to protect the seats. Hair and slobber everywhere. He loves the power rear window as a headrest on the highway

If the truck stops for more than a few minutes they get out, pretty simple really.

Edit: or I seal it up and feed them A/C
