Not sure anybody has enough miles on them yet to give you an honest answer. The tip-in on the performance tunes is pretty noticeable if you like that I would recommend it, but that may lead to more wanting to goose it thus leaving your mpg less than you would like.

how many miles on the tune? MUST give it a minimum of 2-300 miles before truly evaluating

Im on 91 base tune also. It seems perfect so far to me. I normally get about 17.5 on the trip I made. This time was 21.8. There is a lot more power down in the lower rpm range. I don't have to be in the pedal as much. So far I'm extremely pleased.

Just drove 93 octane performance 1.05 in the rain... I’m glad my wife wasn’t with me. Lots of tire spinning. Even when i didn’t want it to.

And I’m very light on the throttle.

    I’m having fun.

That's what I've been running, and while it's much better than stock and better than 1.04, it still has its issues. I'm really looking forward to the Performance tune when Mat releases it for my ECU.

If Toyota could have provided a good base and ECT version like this I think they would never keep up. Thanks @OVTune --- I'll be buying Toyotas and funding your retirement from now on!

Is the gear-lock tune the performance tune with the addition of gear-lock, or is it the base tune with the addition of gear-lock?

I got that same message when I tried to flash the new file using the old pc5flash within the old OVTune SoftPak. I then used the PC5flash within the new flash manager, under config, and it worked perfect. Hope my syntax is not too far off, the old laptop I use to flash is off now, so can't reference the exact spellings etc unless I want to wait an hour while it fires up.

I am also 04B03, so I just flashed the new base 1.05 and will try it first. Makes waiting for the performance option less painful I hope.

This thread is blowing up. Don’t think Toyota isn’t watching and capable of reading a OVTuned ECU.

    Still on 1.03. On O4BO3...
Haven't flashed in about a year and struggled then as I'm not very PC literate and still using a dongle but managed somehow to flash 1.01, 1.02 then finally 1.03.
Hoping after following instructions I can get this to work.
After reading it sounds like 1.05 performance is a refined version
    Of 1.03...
    Can't wait to try it.
All stock but moving up to 265/75/16 tires soon.
Truck for me was really unsafe in stock form.

    It’s more aggressive than 1.03.

That ^^ is the reason why I’m looking forward to it. I had the same feature (S mode, selectable gears) on my Ford Escape. It worked great for towing and I’ve wondered why Toyota didn’t do something similar.
