Thank you. Sam Houston National Forest. These are the forest service roads. This was next to Lake Conroe.

Dang. I was close to there last year when we went for a quick vacation around Lake Livingston. It was a quick trip though, I wouldn't have had much time to explore.

I could have also just looked at your location to get a better idea. I figured it had to be closer to houston by looking at the mud. I don't think it gets quite like that the further north you go (thinking about Tyler/Longview area).

I got an alert on the doorbell today and the FedEx lady says she can’t leave the snorkel even though I filled out a signature waiver.
Luckily I was just driving into my neighborhood and convinced her to wait a minute.

Time to break out the drill and saw!

It has rained a lot this fall and winter, hence the mud. I would say in Texas, the farther east the more swampy, North Houston has the piney wood forests like my photos in SHNF, North Texas is more plains, and South and West Texas gets much drier, you're moving more towards the desert areas of the country.

Got it done, but the Precleaner doesn’t fit.
Where the snorkel head attaches, the OD is 3 1/2”
The ID of the Precleaner is 4”. Gonna have to make an adapter.

Looks good, Harbor Freight was out of body saws so I was going to use a skill saw... but after thinking about it I am going to wait until I have two legs again. Idk how I’d do it with one bum leg and fighting crutches. :( Disappointed but I’m going to the gun store tomorrow instead to pick up a new Glock.

After reading some of the comments about the template being off, I braced myself for a clusterfuck. It ended up being fairly painless. I started off by putting the template on the snorkel and punching new holes where they were supposed to be. Even after doing that, somehow a couple were still off about 1/4”. I just bored em out with a unibit and used some bigger fender washers I had.
The hose was kind of deformed on the snorkel end, so trying to get the snorkel into the hose was the hardest part. That would’ve been a lot easier if I had help.

I thought it was the same as ARB too. I was surprised when I went to put the Precleaner on and it didn’t work.

Just finished mine today, turned out good but could of been better, like many others I had issues with the template, I measured like 3 times, pre cut the offset holes and still a cluster Fuck! Don't get me wrong I like the end results but like I said if the template was accurate it would of been a lot smoother. As it was took me like 4 hrs cause of all the extra work I had to do. Didn't install the A pillar bracket and don't think I will as it is not contoured to the body of the pillar and doesn't really fit. It's sturdy enough so no biggie.

So I will also say that the template is horrible and almost garbage. As stated above I also put it on over the studs to line them up and even after that they will still be off a bit. Measure 20 times and still drill twice. I see now why they want the holes to be drilled out over a 1/2” and I suggest doing it because you will need all they play. The rubber boot is no fun and is just long enough with no room to spare. You gotta get shoulders deep with your arms in the fender liner and swear at the world to get that sucker on. After it all I’m still happy with it 2F0B683C-578F-4E32-B53F-CBEBCCDCBC97.jpg 398A8813-9436-465E-AF9C-98D9CA58786E.jpg

Nice work, any chance you might be able to work a better template after your install experience?

Honestly I don’t think they even have an idea. The one curve on the fender I think throws it all off. Am I suppose to tape it down to all the curves of the truck or are you suppose to keep it tight so it kinda floats over the curve? No one knows but we are still all successful. When in doubt just have a few extra large washers on deck.

All my rigs are purpose built. From crawling to camping. I also enjoy a nice stock truck for what that’s worth. Toyota’s are the jam!
Oh hell no. This has to be sorted. There is no reason for it not to be.

I am glad you got it rocking.

Our snorkel head is 85mm, which is 3.34". For guys needing to adapt the size, take an old bicycle tire or similar and just wrap it around the snorkel to make the head fit.
