We get spoiled here in nevada also. When I was younger it always blew my mind there were other places where Bars closed? Hell my favorite college bar had happy hour at 3-4 AM or PM....pretty sure I made both back to back more than I care to admit.

I stumbled upon 2 bottles of Booker's 30th today. Both delivered today, only 1 bottle each store. First wouldn't sell it to me from behind counter. Second wanted $400.

Side note I've never seen Stagg Jr before but one store had it for $50. Worth the snag?

For sure the Stagg Jr. is worth it.

What was the first store planning to do with the bottle? Why wouldn't they sell?

$400 is at least a little bit below secondary pricing, for whatever that is worth.

Probably spoken for by a friend or something. The guy looked like a sloppy bag of smashed assholes so I figure he runs his store to match. Oh well, I didn't expect to ever see it anyway!

Yeah gin seems to be making a bit of a resurgence.

Cognac might be too specific, particularly considering the regional issues you point out. Perhaps brandy in general. Cognac could be the Stitzel-Weller Pappy of the brandy world.

Gin is possible. It has quite a following among the hipster crowd in this area. Perhaps it'll become too cool for them and take off .

Which, frankly, it would be awesome to me if it were gin or tequila. I have a friend of the family that is very in to tequila. He's shared some good ones with me and, while I can appreciate that there is a nuance to be enjoyed, I've never had the interest in pursuing it. I'm about the same with gin, only I tend to enjoy drinking it at least a little more.

I lived in New Orleans a number of years. Can’t finish your drink? Here’s a plastic cup to take it with you. Drive thru daiquiri joints. Retail store in the airport, just before baggage claim.

    Gawd I miss that town.

Resupply run. My normal spot got a resupply of Weller SR but went from $19 to $25 (highway robbery I tell ya). But then they had Double Rye! dropped down to $33 :notsure:

I got a text from my BIL today (my sister asked for a recommendation for valentines day for him and I suggested Blanton's) with the picture below. Seems his interest in good brown liquor is taking off! He found these at a store local to him. The Hibiki is about $20 over list, not crazy but still high. The other one that really caught my attention is the Yamazaki 12. I had a dram in a restaurant in Hawaii while on vacation and have been hunting it since. Hard to find and crazy prices. This one is pretty high but not as much as I see it going for on line.

A 750ml bottle trades for about $140-150 shipped.

    1.75L bottle fetches around $225-250.

Thanks. I hear that TX gets the most Weller, so next time I'm there, I will spend a day in liquor stores and see what I find.
