Mine hasn't recognized a couple times and it resolved when I unplugged and plugged back in the cable.

I am having a problem, when I go to download a tune it takes all of 2 seconds and the file is really small: 1537 kb. Is that right? Then when I try to load it, computer asks for a way to open the file using an app? I get nothing after that.
Any ideas?
I have downloaded FM 1.04 and C++, cleaned and updated the windows, all security is off...Currently using 1.05 from last month.

Any help would be appreciated, thx...

 

You’re good, that’s a correct file size

 

ok, except it doesnt automatically load the file. It just sits there asking for an app to open it...

 

Don’t try to open in as a standalone file. You're essentially using toyflash to “mount” this file and subsequently flash it the same route

 

Ya - exactly- . Except when I double click the tune, the app window comes up

 

Don’t double click the tune, go into toy flash select appropriate interface then select correct make(toyota) then select what module you want flash which is something along the lines of “ecu P5” after that click identify. Once that’s finished you can click the “...” which you then point it to the location where you downloaded tune to.
These are off top of my head, there are better instructions on ovtune website.

Hopefully someone else can chime in, you’re on the right track

Edit: these are the instructions for kits with dongles, if you have dongleless setup, refer to first set of instructions on the first page of this thread

You're close. Be sure to get the correct instructions for your dongle/dongless from Mat's blog. Go through the three steps in order. Seems like you are missing something in the instructions. You're almost there.

 

What’s the difference in adapters between dongle and dongless?

I have the one with the ob2 and the cable that plugs into the laptop.

Yes, historicaly the TSB (04B04) tunes have been released before the older ECU versions. And if everyone does it Mat would be able to release updates sooner and have more time for tune developement.

That's not how it works. Use either PCMFlash (dongle) or P5Flash (dongleless) to load the tune.

They're the same adapters, no difference.

I didn't say he said that. But it just makes sense. The less versions he has to update the more time for developement.
