I like the fact it comes with a heavy duty winch from the factory, electronic power steering, the Elka stage 2 shocks all around, the fact it can take a rollover and be practically fine lol. Thanks for reaching out! Elkas all around is actually impressive as those are the go-to for everyone putting aftermarket on. Sounds like they make a good bike.

Honda makes good stuff...especially back then. Not Chinese... I dunno I might have to look a little harder at these!

 

I think he paid something like $8,700 out the door? I cant really remember but it beat the hell out of like $14k for an Outlander

 

Yeah an outlander that size is out of my price point! One of these 700's might be nice. The Can-Am is Hecho in Mexico so it isn't like I was buying American anyways. I'm gonna look into this a little more. Maybe I end up with an outlander, but you've got me googling and reading reviews like crazy now.

Edit: They make parts for artic cat and BMW too. I think they are legit.

 

Pretty sure he has this one with an upgrade package on it. I know the ATV/snowmobile shop in Rangeley, ME has Kymco on their sign now and carries their quads and UTVs

I know I am a bit late to this discussion, but when you go looking for an ATV, I would stick to Yamaha, Kawasaki, or Honda. I have been riding ATVs for quite a few years, and my uncle has always owned Kawasaki's or Yamaha's (for 10+ years), and they have never let us down! He has mostly owned Brute Force 750s (had 4 at one point) and also a Grizzly 550 (and now a 2 door Teryx).
When my uncle was finally serious about buying a SxS, he started to look at the Kymco's, and while they are a good value (since most come with winches, nicer wheels/tires, etc.), when he did research on them, he found that a lot of owners were having issues with their machines (mostly electrical, and some mechanical failures with low hours).
So if I were you, I would only look at Yamaha, Kawasaki, or Honda. I know there initial cost is higher, but you will have many more trouble-free years of use with those brands!

What about Polaris, Can-Am, Suzuki and Arctic Cat? I tend to agree with on you Kymco, there's a reason they're cheaper initially... They're a legit company and you may not have any issues with them but their QC is not going to be on par with other manufacturers so the potential for issues is greater.

 

I have looked at some hondas and really like a few models, their rancher which is in my price range, doesn't tow enough for me. Not sure about Kaw or Yam, for some reason they haven't really appealed to me. Cousin has a brute force he likes though, could be a good option for me since they are usually on sale...but that also says something.

I have a few offers now on Polaris Sportsman and Can-Am outlander, been seeing some negative stuff about polaris and tbh wasn't impressed with the ranger quality. Can-am seems to be good, but gotta keep up the maintenance, which I wouldn't be bothered with.




All info and suggestions are great though and I am looking at them all. Dealers I have been talking to seem to be Honda/Can-Am/Polaris dealers more than the others which is why I am leaning that way.

 

Morning all. Weather in the Southern tier of the company is playing hell with our deliveries today. Who'd have thought that 2 inches of snow could completely shut down a state? Crazy to think about, but it's what's happening in VA right now.

 

I would look at Suzuki or Can-Am ATVs, but not Polaris or Arctic Cat.
When I was younger, my family owned 3 Polaris ATVs, and they started to fall apart after day one (again, major electrical issues, and build quality was horrendous). Another one of uncle's had Arctic Cat ATVs, and while he had them for some time, he barely rode them, since he also had electrical issues with them (if I remember correctly, there was a constant power draw, draining the battery so he had to put a charger on the machine whenever he wanted to ride).

Honestly, while Honda's are very reliable, the ATV models are long in the tooth, they have been out for awhile. But I couldn't recommend a Brute Force enough! They are great machines, tons of power, and very reliable. And as you saw, you can get some good deals on one.

 

I've actually heard osme nightmare stories about Polaris' warranty. Seems to depends largely on the dealership you buy from, not the company. My neighbors and I had a few Polaris and Arctic Cat ATVs growing up and they were all great. We beat the ever living shit out of them and never had any problem with them at all. The Polaris models were simple, 2wd 2 stroke ATVs, the Arctic Cats were larger, 4wd utility ATVs.
