I am also wondering at what point you have so much flex it would be beneficial to have the lower shock mount perpendicular opposed to parallel to the axle :anonymous:

I'll get you straightened out. I am looking at a bunch of different mounts lengths styles etc. Will probably order a few different ones and make my decision on install day since I am looking for certain #s for bump and droop.

Oh that is a whole can of worms. That can take a few hrs. There are benefits to both. When you run the lower mount perpendicular the upper mount is still parallel, so the 2 mounts are perpendicular to each other if that makes sense. There is some drivability and suspension geometry reasons for this. But on a leaf sprung suspension it really doesn't do a whole lot. On triangulated 4 links and some LT it can help. Then trailing arms it can be beneficial or cause issues depending on the trailing arm design.

o_O I'm looking to bump before the springs go negative and droop just before the shocks bottom out hopefully without limit straps. I feel they are more for sand dunes jumping fun that I will never ever do unless those piping plovers ever become so populated they are begging you to drive on the beach in obx:rofl::rofl:

Right people look at me funny when I tell them I use to hunt areas and that I remember when 40 didn't go all the way to the beach. They just assume it's always been city.

I get what your saying. I'm running Archives shock towers and axle mounts with a SUA setup.

Yes I'll have my bumpstops compressed fully right before spring goes negative and droop controlled by straps eventually (hell I should probably just go ahead and order them). But what I am looking for is shock length at ride height for up travel amount and droop amount.
It's a lot of calculations not that hard. Easier to show than to explain, well for me it's easier. But they are just calculations and then application may dictate a change of plan.
I am also ordering different length shackles and will decide which route to go as far as shackle length on install day too.

SUA is much more suited to the high speed desert stuff. SOA 63s are a good all around set up. If you really want flexy leafs you need to look at 1/4 eliptical set ups AKA buggy suspension (not offroad buggy but horse and carriage buggy)

I'm good with 63s for the foreseable future. I carry a ton of weight so it just makes sense to me to get full size truck springs. Even the heavy dakars are borderline what I need. Of course once I get it I will want more!

How could you with this epic storm around us?

Did you get batteries, water, shovels, MREs, candles, baby formula and bread? It could be days before they send reinforcements.

Haha I'm watching cartoons, drinking coffee, and watching it snow....Daddy daycare in full effect

Funny my wife goes "we are gonna need milk for the baby, we only have half a gallon"

I told her it was enough granted he drinks a lot but I said "truck can handle the weather"

    She goes "oh yeah, nevermind"
