No voltage to a fuse

Maybe a stupid question...but is the auto high beam switch activated? Would have to look at a wiring diagram to see if it affected power to the high beam fuse but I'm assuming that's how it kills the high beams with the stalk on the column calling for high beams. It automatically cuts the high beams under a certain mph.

 

I don’t think 16’s have that feature. Could be wrong but I’m pretty sure.

Definitely a good idea though. I think it came out in the 18+ models.

 

Happened all of a sudden, One day I can use highbeams the next day they do not work .

 

The 2016 tacoma does not have automatic highbeam option. I believe it is 2018 and up With the sonar and camera, Lane assist , and auto braking system, they have the auto high beam button to the left of the wheel.

 

I suppose it is also worth noting that my highbeam indicator does come on my dash when i activate the high beam switch lever, just no actual high beam lights on the exterior .

 

possible for you to pull all the fuses and check the condition of the copper contacts, or unbolt the fuse box, and look at the wires? maybe a mouse chewing on wires...

best bet is to start probing from the fuse following the cables/wires back to their source until you get power... then you can make a jumper wire..

 

Just checked all those fuses, they are all good.

 

that was my next step, I just gotta find the time to do it. even if i take off the fuse box will i be able to see all the wiring under it?

 

Looking at them doesn't count as checking them. Remove the 20 amp replace with new one, them verify function.

 

the fuse block should split in half... screws or bolts.. just be careful.. disconnect mains power, try back probing first.. but in reality if you are under warranty I would take it to the dealer.. let them trace it.. and if they screw up you'll get a new fuse block/switch.. pay the $100 deductible.. just replace your factory lights to original before you take it in, so they dont refuse your warranty work due to electrical MODS..

 

Ok, do the low beams work as they should? Do they go off when you switch to high beams? What happens if you use the high beam flash? Do the headlights go off when you open the door key off? If the low beams work properly then I would look into the actuator for high/low it most likely drives a relay because the load is fairly high and the contacts aren't. Has the original owner added any weird things to the wiring? Generally wiring left alone does not fail switches and modules do.

with the voltage readings you got, that low would indicate a short i think.....if you had no voltage that would indicate an open or blown fuse or cut wire......right?

 

If I’ve got this right. No power to the headlights (high beam) or the fuse the supplies power to them.
You’ve check all the appropriate fuses.
Checked the relays. (Swapped them and problem didn’t switch to Lo beam)
You’ve checked the switch works (blue idiot light comes on)

Next step should be checking the power to the relay. There are two powers, the two black wires running to the relay in the diagram a few posts above.
