475 went up tonight! Belt and 7mm sleeves. I think if I trained with wraps I might get closer to 500. Also hit 450 which was another pr. Finished off the day with high volume, light weight hamstrings and quads.

Puts me at 375 bench and 475 squat. Hoping for 550 dead lift next which would put me at 1400 total at 225lbs

In order to get myself to eat clean and keep me away from the junk, I’ve been ordering weekly meals from Clean Eatz here locally. I’ve stayed on track really well and cut out all crap including all the Diet Coke I used to drink. Now I’m starting to dabble into my own meal prepping so I can get into that habit and begin phasing out buying so much from Clean Eatz.

This is my first ever and it was totally unplanned. I’ll need to give it more forethought from here. Open to tips, tricks, criticisms, etc from you guys who’ve been doing this for a while.

Grilled skinless boneless chicken breast, quinoa & brown rice w/ garlic, and mixed vegetables.

I’ve trained Brazilian jiu jitsu the last 7+ years, that kept my weight consistent. What really got my body fat down was MMA though. I’ve had a couple fights and would walk around at 11% body fat during regular training.

The biggest thing is to have a reason to train (passion/motivation) and CONSISTENCY.

That’s awesome. I’ve always wanted to do boxing/MMA but after having jaw surgery once, I never want to go through that again so I’m scared to do any combat stuff now

You could always just train and not spar. Hitting pads is still fun, I just don’t have the fire to do it anymore since I’m never fighting again

I used to have meal prep Sundays where I cooked a few things and packaged them up for a week.
I live with my husband and bestfriend and his spouse. 4 guys who need meal prep so its a lot of food.

I have moved to just doing larger meals during the week and packaging those up in individual containers. I think its less work that way.
Instead of just making a batch that would feed 4 of us once I do double or tripple the amount and divide it up.
    Thats cleared up my Sundays.

I pretty much cook 1-2 times during the week and then every night over the weekend.

I need to start planning what meals I cook a week out. “Winging it” gets harder to do lol

Pinterest is a good place to look for new recipies.
I’m not a fan of the meal prep stuff just because of how ungodly expensive it is. I’m cheaper than I am lazy. Lol plus I really don’t like other people prepping my food. I get very particular about whats in it.

I just find new recipies and try them. If they’re winners then I hang onto them. But for those who don’t like or know how to cook it can be a huge challenge.

The more you do it, the easier it gets.

Most of my meals get into individual containers on sunday, but the gf has more time than I do and she does what you do and adds them to a large container and splits them up each day. I am too lazy to split in the AM so I just do it sunday night, lol.

When I’m putting away left overs I out each into its own individual container and throw it in the fridge.
I don’t split it up later. Thats twice the amount of work lol.
I like just throwing my shit in my lunch box and tipping out the door in the morning.

Now I feel fortunate that it’s just me I need to figure out how to prep for! My wife picks at her food here and there so she has zero interest in food prep. I’ve always had the habit of cooking more than necessary and I believe that’s contributed to my weight gain in the past (along with all the junk I used to eat).

I think I’ll just continue that habit but split it up into individual meals when I put it away instead of into a couple large containers where I wouldn’t have portion control when I get hungry. That’s probably my best first logical step in planning my meals.

Some days I wish it was just me... lol

I agree with splitting it up as you put it away. If you go into one large container for a meal, you’ll easily overdo it. Simpler to put it away in the individual servings.
I do that with everything now. Like all my nuts or any snacks I may have I take out of the large container and divide it all up. I am trying really hard not to go into bags of snacks and just grab a handful... and then going back and doing it again 2 minutes later. Lol

So proper form and mindset are a real thing. I’ve been working on my bench form and trying to break out of my mental block while having weight on a bar over my face while laying on my back. My bench PR is stupid low and I always knew I could do more...today I proved it to myself with good form which broke down my mental block.

    I did 6x6 benchpress at 95% and didn’t struggle a bit. o_O

Great job man! You wouldn't believe sometimes how powerful the mind is. Far superior than any muscle. You can overcome way more than you ever imagined with the proper mindset. Of course form goes a long way as well, we can never take that away. Keep it up, don't be afraid to ask for a spotter either on bench, I believe that can help your mindset as well, just gotta have a decent spotter that will listen to what you tell them before hand ..:amen:

    Also,

It wasn’t 95% of your max if you did 6x6. Your max is more than you think.

Do you max out with a spotter?

When I was doing Wendler he stresses sets don’t go to failure so I never tried to go there but just having someone stand over me makes all the difference in the world.

Bench was never my mental block. Squats are though. I can’t stand the idea of failing on a squat so I just pussy out.

Prepping is so time consuming. I'm always so busy with the wife, kiddos, job, gym, hobbies, etc that I cook the easiest things possible in bulk to account for most of my meals for the week. I'd love to get fancy and make some awesome new recipes, but it's just hard to beat the efficiency of baked chicken breast/pork loin, rice/pasta/potatoes, and veggies. Throw in some eggs/butter/nuts for fat and that's 90% of my diet every week. Boring but it works.

Those are the vast majority of the things I eat.
I don’t get super fancy. I have some soups and stews I go for and some indian and thai meals I’ll do but its mostly meat and potatoes or rice and veggies.

100% agree it wasn’t 95% of my max...but it was 95% of my PR. I’ve broken down the mental barrier I had and worked on my form so I’m excited to see what my real PR will be in a couple weeks.

I workout with a trainer 3x/week and PR on those days while following his program for me. I also go to boot camp style classes 6x/week to bring my cardio up (I hate cardio) and drop some fat.
