My buddy hit the ditch. Is asking me to pull him out with my taco. I guess put chains around the tow hitch ball. Would my truck be okay?

Tow hooks, but I'm sure you would be fine with the tow hitch. Slow and low good luck should be fine.

    NOOOOOOO

If you have a strap, you can run the hitch pin through the loop at one end to secure it. Hitch balls are not meant for recovery and can be VERY lethal.

If this is real life, you will be fine. Do not use tow hitch ball it can come off, reverse pull straight in 4x4 using your "tie down" hook. Buddy in corolla for control.

I pull people out of ditches all the time when it snows here. Only time I appreciate those ricer Hondas is the fact that they usually have a rescue loop on the tail end.

First off, throw your chains in the trash. Go get a strap. That being said, as long as you take up the slack and then move forward slowly, you should be fine. If it takes more than a little effort to get the Corolla out, I would look at an alternative mounting point (not the hitch), like maybe the lower control arm, or some other more solid recovery point.

@mynewtoy you're right. None of it is ideal. But that hitch ball will very likely fail before the chain.

@Baerskin if you must use a chain, try and go slow in reverse and attach the chain to your passenger side loop. Don't jerk because you could overload the chain, and also, your reverse gear isn't really meant for snatching.

LOL. Not sure if that would aid recovery, but the rigging would get done VERY quickly.

I have one hard and fast rule.

I don’t pull people, trees, bushes, or other objects out with my truck. You’re stuck... call AAA.
I will not risk damage to my vehicle because you got stuck.

No, 3rd gens don't have enough power. Call someone with a Ridgeline, Colorado or Frontier.

they are using a nylon tow strap, not a snatch rope so I find this video inconclusive because they are probably retarded
