I ordered some memphis audio tweeters for the taco today, and I watched a few videos and I noticed there is a 4 pin plug on the stock tweeter, anyone have any insight how to install the new tweeters? Crutchfield didn't offer a plug and play harness for that particular area. Thanks.g953PRX27-F.jpg

There are 3 ways you can go about this.
1: cut the 4 pin plug off and wire it in. The signal comes from the radio ->tweeter -> to the woofer. So if you dont wire it right, then the woofer doesnt work
2: buy ********* harness, plug and play easy
3: remove the plug from the back of the tweeter, its held on with 3 clips. You will need to do some soldering. First unsolder the factory tweeter, then replace the little black cap (black tube thing) with a peice of wire. Then solder the new tweeter wires to where you removed the factory tweeter wires.

I went with #3 for my 3 way system. I wired it right to my crossover.

Think I may opt for that, no better time than now to practice my soldering skills.

Its a pretty easy job. Just keep track of polarity from the speaker as the plug is not labeled.

One thing not many people think of is that the factory front speakers have water shields and very small magnets. The location of the speaker allows water to drip from the window tracks onto aftermarket speakers.

I killed one speaker because I didnt know this... water dripped into the magnet, and rusted up the voice coil. I have since replaced that woofer and put in foam speaker cups (you need to cut out the bottom half of the cup)
