Any issues or regrets about the carista?

 

Wasn’t going to, was just gonna have it for watching diagnostics every once in a while

 

My carista has worked fine.

 

Download of the new FM went very smooth.Installed the flash manager and downloaded all files ready for my A4A60.I loaded the base 87 tune and let the truck run for 10 minutes.Truck drives much better on the new 1.05 87 tune.I found the entire process very simple on an old windows 7 laptop around 10 years old with not many window updates.Awesome job Mat...

 

I use iOS also and I purchased the Veepeak BLE, I haven't used it for more than a week so far but it's working well:

B030 2016. 2016 so, unable to obtain the performance tunes for the 3 octanes, I have installed the base options, and thats alright, because for me the base tunes are grest. But after plugging in and running toyflash, and "flashing it" I get the message "error downloading tune". Anyone else come across this one yet?

 

I’m the same version as you and can only run the base tunes. The error I get is the same when I try to download the performance tunes and that is because they aren’t available to us yet. End of month is what Matt says.

 

Gotya. The problem that I'm having is that the base tunes are the ones giving me the "error downloading tune". Going to give it another try soon, and hopefully sort things out. The error occurs while flashing.

 

Are you dongle or no dongle?

 

You’re downloading the tune before flashing, right? When you flash it asks you to choose the tune you’ve already downloaded

 

I'm dongle-less. With the fancy orange obd connector.

To be fair to @acemastr, he did mention in an earlier post that he only had 1 misfire and shared the celebration with us by posting it.

I too have been struggling with high misfire count. I haven’t had time to log anything on the new 105 tune though. I don’t plan on making any judgments on it until I have several miles in the clock.

My hope is that the new 105 helps reduce my count.

In full disclosure, I haven’t replaced my crank shaft sensor (it’s not on the list), but I may do it as a next step if 105 doesn’t help.

Did you double check that where it says dongle, you selected no.....it defaults to yes I believe.

 

How many do you typically get?

 

On the previous 105 tune, I’d see as few as 3 and as many as 27 according to Mode $06>$0C on Fusion

 

May or may not have any impact on misfire count but it's something worth eliminating for sure. My truck was not on "the list" for the recall either, my 17 built in Aug 16 Baja.... and dealer/toyota to this day says it shouldn't have needed replacing. It was a $100 part and I was at my wits end at the time so I bought it myself and took 10 mins to install. Instant difference in how the truck ran, idled, even steered as though the pump was getting proper power... The tell tale sign of mine was idle being erratic on hot days - not just a little and even without A/C on along with increasingly rough idle. I knew in my case though if I let it go long enough it would fail based on how it was degrading and I wasn't taking the chance on a breakdown or engine damage just to wait to PROVE to Toyota there was indeed a problem...
