I always thought that about Cabelas, but apparently it took Bass Pro Shops to bail them out.

Back to their bikes- SR Suntour components on hardtail bikes well over $1k is what turned me off. At that price you should be getting rockshox or literaly anything else. I can expect a suntour fork on an $800 bike though. May only last a few years but theyre easy to replace, and if thats the only "meh" component Id say its a good deal at $800.

This is what Im looking at, in the green color https://www.marinbikes.com/bikes/2019-mountain-hardtail-trail-27.5-san-quentin-1

So for my drafting class we have to come with a “problem” and find a solution.

I’m thinking my problem might be 1st gen door handles.

Basically just make a copy in Cad.

Can I send that to a machine shop and they can make it off of that or? Does anyone know?

Will be 3D printed to make sure it’s accurate

I've broken enough of these damn handles to know where the problem with them is...it's the circled red part, the little plastic "lip" that pushes down on the metal latch and engages the door. On the OEM handles that lip is really small and over time, it stops pushing down on the metal latch to where it eventually just slides down the side of it and won't work at all. Or it breaks.

I went through probably 4 OEM handles in like 3 months until I finally bought some cheap Dorman handles off of eBay and noticed that they use a bigger lip than the OEM ones do, and my handles haven't broken since.

The only different kind of handle failure I had was when the actual plastic handle itself facing the outside of the truck snapped in half

I always thought this was only an issue in areas with a drastic freeze/thaw cycle. How'd you break so many of them? I have the original handles to my truck.

I have no idea, it was like the Tacoma gods were laughing at me for those few months. I had door-opening PTSD for weeks, even when other people opened my doors. I think something might have bent with that metal rod system that connects to the door handles and maybe it was putting more strain on the handle parts, I don't know. All I know is that the cheap Dorman handles were finally the solution for me because they use a bigger plastic lip that engages the metal latch.

I broke the first one up in Big Bear when we stayed overnight in freezing weather, so yeah that can definitely do it. But I think not keeping the internals lubricated every now and then also speeds up the process. I use the small straw that comes with the Tri Flo lube and stick it in the lock and underneath the handle every few weeks and give it a good spray for good measure.
