Thanks for the tips, guys. Looking forward to heading your way tomorrow. Can anyone recommend a reputable shop near Provo or south salt lake that would do an inspection for me? I will be getting in right around bank closing/dark and won’t have a lot of time to look myself but sure want to cover as much as I can in advance.

Dickerson Automotive in Spanish Fork (15 mins south of Provo) treated me really well. Maybe give them a call and see if they do inspections? They are open til 6 M-F.

State Automotive in Midvale is a great shop with Toyota gurus, and Geoffrey Beers is a killer independent Toyota master mechanic in Sandy/Midvale but has a busy schedule. I hear good things about Simmons Industries in Provo, the owner is a Toyota off road guy, but I don't have experience with them. Might be a good option since it's in Provo.

This might be slightly off topic...but thought I'd toss it out there as it looks like y'all frequent some of the same places I do. I posted this on the Off Road forum too.

I've got to go over near Hite UT to spread someone's ashes off a particular cliff overlooking the Colorado River.

I need to do that on March 4 (it's a long story about why I'm highly motivated to do this). The access road (208A) is east of Hwy 95 south of the bridge over the Colorado. I've done a fair bit of exploring back in there, but only in drier conditions - it was pretty well maintained gravel road in late fall 2017 (last time I was there).

Any locals or other TW people been back in there lately? Any thoughts on road conditions? Appreciate any insights you may have.
    Thanks.

I haven't been down that way recently but I imagine there's some good snow possible. That area has been hit particularly hard this winter. When I was in Monticello/Blanding a couple weeks ago there was a lot of snow. Wish I was going down there again sooner and I could scope it out for you better.

I was around that area this past weekend. It was a soupy mess. and that was BEFORE the big storm came through on Monday, and another is gonna push in this week. We were on very similar roads, and it was a mess. If you do intend to go, make sure you have a person back home who knows where you are going, when you plan to be back, a recovery strap, and a set of traction boards if you can swing it. Amazon has a good set for about $100 (X-bull)

This was the DRY section of trail:

Simple Performance is what UTOR recommended when I asked. It is also right next door to the Land Cruiser museum so you can have something to do while you wait!

Anybody have a good place to get my alignment checked? The dealership just cannot get it right for me.

Big O in Sandy just off 9000 S and 700E is full of Toyota enthusiast techs. I am super pleased with how they've taken care of me.

Thank you for the sound advice and comments, @Gunshot-6A @BOMBS @eltacoutah! I've been watching the weather thinking this storm was not going to help it dry out after the last few weeks of storms. Your posts earlier today made me realize I could ask for advice! :)

I do have a recovery strap, high lift jack, traction boards, gear to bivouac in grim conditions etc, and do use a call out system when I'm off the grid (I do a lot of caving, canyoneering, backcountry climbing, hunting etc).

Even better than all the cool gear, although highly motivated to accomplish this, the best tool I have is between my ears:rofl: I am not afraid to call it if it looks like more than I want to deal with. Last thing I want is to engage with SAR or other folks to get rescued :D

Thanks again. If I get back there I'll share pics.

I gathered. We ran into a few people down there this weekend that had no business being where we were given the road conditions.

I've been that grrl...(at least) once. I try to learn from my mistakes. LOL Were you able to help those other folks, if they needed it? It is amazing sometimes the resistance you can get when you are trying to help. Great pics, BTW.
