What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

Heat gun is bad. Pulls the oils out and causes them the plastic to crack and what not even faster

 

Really? I've seen it done to Avalanches and other trucks with no big problems.

Would rather not paint them cause my luck they'll just start peeling and looking like shit.

 

So, 4X4 swapping was not the only thing I was working on this weekend.

Completely re-wired the solenoids on my project winch and wired it to the truck.


Re-located the plug for the remote to a more convenient location.


Deleted the stupid stock charging ports (that never seemed to charge anything right). And wired them direct, so I can charge when the truck is off. Red=Starting battery / Blue= Aux Battery.


Winch works like a Champ... just need to run the line, splice the hook, and re-install the halogen lights tonight. (looks like I'll need to do a one inch body lift to clear the switch lol j/k)

 

Yes really. It looks great for all of one month. Get a good plastics restoration kit and apply that. This is what I use for stuff like that. Its not the cheapest out there but it has held up well on my Mustang and my dad's old truck.

I have a clock on my stereo that everyone in the truck can see. I'll be removing the OEM clock and putting useful switches there... (Not sure what yet. Front locker? LED light bars? Ejector seat?)

 

That means you underfilled it. My transmission would grind until I put it into park until I filled it to spec.

At least in my case.

 

It was actually cause my T-case was in neutral.

The plugs are really good quality. Solid aluminum housing. Only like 13 bucks a piece on eBay.

Yes, I ran through all the Hi/low 2wd/4wd last night. No clunks or bangs. Everything seems legit.

 

Is it still on jacks or on the ground?

 

We're good... I realized my dumb ass actually had the Tcase in neutral. Everything works like a champ now.

 

I had to clock my winch to get that to clear and also straightened the arm just a bit (heat and a BFH)

 

Can’t be a 1998 because the speed sensor is mechanical cable driven. Has to be from a 1995-1997

 

Painted mine with rustoleum truck bedliner paint been on there almost 4 years with no flaking. Has a nice texture now as well.

 

So this happened Sunday.
