Changed the oil last night... but had trouble getting the filter off. Started to get dark so i let it drain overnight, did the screwdriver trick to remove the filter the following day. After filling with new oil, and installing new filter, truck wouldnt turn over.... click click click click.

    Tried booster cables. no luck

Possibly dislodged a starter connection when i placed a gatorade bottle under the oil filter to reduce spillage? Not currently at home to mess around with connections right now, but will check it out when i get home..

    Any other ideas? Bad starter?
Started with no issues before the oil change.

    Thanks..
    Colin

Definitely check the starter connections if you think you might have disturbed them. Even though you used cables I’d still check the battery voltage and check the battery connections to be sure they are tight and look for corrosion.

Do you think that leaving it overnight to drain would be a problem at all? Cold climate.

No. Nothing concerning changing the oil should affect it starting. Could be several things including the battery, starter, starter connections.... if it’s the battery and you used cheap or lousy cables they may not carry sufficient load to start your truck. First thing check your battery and connections then go from there.

Since it started fine yesterday and you at least get clicking now when you turn the key I doubt that it’s the starter itself. I’m really thinking battery and or connections

I had the same issue on my Ford Ranger , started fine drove to my daughters , stayed for a while , went to leave , click , click , click, borrowed her car to go home , returned the next day checked the battery connections and found the ground side was loose and dirty. moved the cable end and the door chime starts making noise , Cleaned cable tighten the cable started right up.
Sold the truck 3 years later with the same battery working just fine,

Since you were working around the battery start with the cable ends.

To paraphrase an old quote "don't overlook the obvious"
