Excellent work. The wrenches are a nice touch.

Got my case ordered yesterday. Looking forward to this project.

Reviving this thread again as I go to do this and order parts for my 2006 Tacoma 4x4 Sport Model Automatic

So from the information I have read:
-Buy an Auto Trans Transfer Case from an FJ Cruiser (Years 2006-2014)
-Since both are Auto (FJ and my Tacoma), there is no need to open of the Tcase and swap anything over
-Install new Tcase and cut hole for single stick. Cry of joy after hole is cut.
-Boot, sound deadening, make the knob work (weld and bend and weld again), and do the wiring to retain dash lights. Buy ADD wiring from Wyatt (I think?).

and bam, done. Am I missing any steps here? Had a harder time finding people who have done just the single stick in an auto.

And if your truck is stuck in 4WD, should you first remove the actuator on the tacoma transfer case, manually switch it to 2WD, then continue on?

You pretty much got it except for the actuator switch. @6 gearT444E has the schematic for the wiring, I believe posted here previously. No need to purchase it.

    Thanks Craig!

Do you know by chance if deciding to install another stock Tacoma tcase - If the truck is stuck in 4WD. Should one leave it in 4WD and remove, or disassemble the actuator,
manually put it in 2WD, then remove case and put new one on?

Had trouble finding an answer for this one!

In 2wd or 4wd doesn’t matter. Just undo the bolts holding tcase to transmission and undo the wiring then pull it out

Roger that, thank you. And just make sure the new tcase is in the same position or still doesn’t matter at all?

    Appreciate the help a lot!

The one piece of advice I can give is that when mating the t-case to the rear of your transmission, make sure the t-case is in 2wd. That way, you can slowly rotate the rear output flange to get the spines on the input shaft to mesh with those of the transmission output shaft. This made installation a lot easier for me. Then once the case is installed, you can put it into neutral so that you can rotate the flanges to mate with the driveshafts. (Not really an issue if all four wheels are off the ground)

As far as wiring up the ADD switch, I (not that mechanically inclined) found it tedious but relatively simple. I'm sure you can do it and I have the link to instructions if needed. I even installed a hidden ADD kill-switch so that if I lend my truck to someone, they can't accidentally activate ADD in the wrong sequence without knowing what they're doing.

I can't, I cancelled one order already and eBay hates me lol.

I also can't drive my truck which makes things hard. I heard there were 5-6 other people talking with Wyatt with tcase issues so maybe post it on Craigslist?
