That's why you always let the other person physically attach the strap to their vehicle.

You can advise them how to do it but having them actually do it reduces your liability for damage to their vehicle. If they put it somewhere really stupid tell em to change it or don't yank them out.

    Only the best.
Winched out an F250 four door long bed diesel. Had to run a chain to the back of my truck from a tree just to be able to pull him out without dragging myself in.

^ this...I once tried to help out a guy stuck in a snowstorm on a mountain in his FWD Altima (I think it was...some kind of Nissan sedan). The dude didn't have any place at all to hook a strap up to in the front (his rear was buried in a snow bank). I had my hand in the wheel well as I was looking around underneath and the fucker decided right then was a good time to spin the tires and try to get free, so I left him there.

But yeah some small cars don't seem to have a good place to hook up to

yeah I didn't say anything I just jumped back and got in my truck and left with him looking all confused. I was lucky I didn't have my hand on the tire and that the car didn't break free.

A tow strap is better, but unless the OP is using a chain meant for a home swing set he won't have any issues with a little car. It won't put any more strain on the truck than pulling a trailer weighing 1/2 what the Tacoma is rated for. A little common sense goes a long way.

Karma sucks. Someday you'll need some help and won't get it. I've helped dozens of people out over the years and will continue to do so.

Three years ago I found these guys stuck 20 miles out in the Utah desert on BLM land. Pulled the diesel F250 and a stock trailer with cattle in out of a jam, probably close to 15,000 lbs I'm pulling right there. No phone service and they sure were grateful. Didn't hurt my truck in the least.

Stuck in the snow can become a serious situation under rhe right conditions- are they a tracfic hazard, are they too old or young to dig out, and are they stranded in danger of getting too cold waiting for AAA? Its not like they’re at the mall and can go inside for a hot drink- many of us would at least stop and access the situation and wouldnt think twice about helping to get them unstuck. People that justify not helping others out because they made a dumb mistake, or even an accidental one at that, are... well, you know.

Sorry about being triggered on this one, but its a really bad attitude and sadly, seems to be going around a lot these days. Anyways, be happy in the thought that if you’re ever stuck like that Corolla, there are a lot of us here that will help you out! :)

Yup, those cattle rustlers were mighty happy you weren’t the owner of those cows!

JK - I pulled a motorhome out of a sandy bottom wash with mine out there too. The guy wanted to pay me but I told him to do a nice favor for someone else instead.

I like how people argue with me. I don’t want to pull someone out. Don’t have the gear, don’t want the gear, have seen it go wrong.
I’m not a licensed AAA guy. I could make a bad situation worse. Wreck their car wreck my car, cost my insurance money.

You can’t honestly say its everyones civic duty to pull someone out.

Talk to the guy who tried pulling someone out and screwed his rear diff.

You spin out call AAA. I’m not required to do anything about the situation. I never said a thing about it being their fault.
Thats exactly what I would do in that Corollas situation. Call a tow truck. Im not letting a stranger get me out lol.

I would pull over and give someone a ride I’m not a dick. You are acting like I see someone freezing to death outside of cell reception stranded 10 miles from the nearest business and flip them off as I drive by.

    I agree with this.

In most cases I will help someone, especially out of town or rurual areas. BUT I also fully support someone’s choice not to. There are so many assholes out there ready to try and sue. I’ve also seen tons of people try to help pull someone out only to break a piece of trim.

It’s also a good point and habit to stop and make sure they are doing ok.

No...no...no...never use suspension components as tow points. Use the tow hitch or the factory tow point in front.

Thats a better way to clarify it... you don’t have to tow them, like you point out, just stop and see if they need other help. It just sounded so harsh the way it was put at first before.Since I don’t live in a big city, my point of view about these things are a bit different out here.
