Nah nothing “special” bout the 5100s to me other than you can set the height. They are a great shock but @BassAckwards is the man to talk about bags I’m only a little familiar with them. An @Kolunatic also

LOL! Thanks. Some years down the road, some version of those would be my stock replacement. Assuming you and the rest of my friends don't have me in some other truck.
Hit up @Kolunatic , so Robert @BassAckwards ; your advice is appreciated! Non ridiculous bags that will last, can inflate to an improved ride, and lift a little when needed.
    Thanks!

Didn’t mean to be insultful:thumbsup: imho they are the best stock replacements. Another thing to consider they seem to be the most popular shock. They pair super good with most ome springs also the warranty on them is top notch.
You won’t be in another truck I imagine you like yours to much.

I got the Firestone bags until I had my leafs. They’re still under ther if I need them but only have 15 psi in them. No plans to remove yet and I haul the crap out of my truck, you know, because it’s a truck :D

No insult was even noticed nor taken! You know me and my truck pretty well. My mission isn't the same as everyone else's (and I do thoroughly enjoy what everyone does!). And as long as she is a pampered, capable , Pick-up Truck, that's my mission!

Just food for thought went it comes time for new shocks again. The 3rd gen Front’s will bolt up fine an give you about 1in up front. Retain an stock ride an way cheaper than 5100s heck someone may give you some takeoffs free.

Question sir.... If you raise the PSI to just above normal spring height, do you get a more "comfortable, smoother" ride? I had airs on a big old heavy Dodge, and that is where I kept them, and it was smoother. Like just a little above normal spring ride.

If you want to run bags, i recommend the firestone ride rites. The kit they send you is designed to work on a stock height truck. If you want to lift at any point down the road you can change out the lower bracket to a cradle that allows the bag to move freely.

If you want to keep the truck stock height though and just keep them for load carrying capacity then theyre very nice. I will admit, they are a bit bouncy at times though when the truck is loaded down and the bags are aired up. Even with a good shock i dont think this can be avoided. Keep in mind also, the firestones require you cut out your factory bump stop and these now act as your bumps. They recommend you keep like 5psi in them when unloaded for this reason so they dont bottom out and mess up the internals.

Long story short, i think, if you are keeping the stock ride height and want to keep from bottoming out when loaded down, then bags are a good option.

If you are willing to add some lift out back, i would go with a AAL or a leaf pack. I think the leaf packs will ride better in the end, the bags are bouncy when loaded down. Cant speak as to how they ride unloaded as my truck has always been loaded down with them
