Ah, thought you had a 50 also. Hopefully the turbo changes my note. If not I might have to go with a 40 at some point.

Enough to make it a lot of fun!
So you can drive it to steamboat this weekend, so we can tear Brett's truck apart.

I mean I drove from Ouray home with no clutch over the summer. The red lights are the annoying part.

I could also drive the T100 which is auto but what fun is that.

The 40 series and super 44 definitly have a deeper tone than your truck. Mine sounds pretty good with a 44 and I bumped up to 2.5” pipe aswell. I’ll up load a video later if you’d like

Not too worried about it, I remember being impressed with how yours sounded. At some point I'll likely redo mine to allow for better flow. The 45° tube I used wasn't mandrel bent so its probably building some unnecessary backpressure.

What are you gonna be doing about a tune to make up for the extra air?

Nothing for now. From reading other builds the stock ecu can account for 5-6psi. The previous owner was running 8psi with the intercooler installed.

Little update on the truck. On start up I was hearing a rattle right around idle that had me a little bit worried. Using a trusty screw drive and put my ear to it and poked around. I found the noise was coming from the wastegate.

    Here's the culprit.

Thanks to @Torspd for pointing out that the valve wouldn't seal and let exhaust gas by. I looked at the part diagram and found that I forgot to install the valve seat! Oops!

Once that was sorted out I took it for a drive around the neighborhood. Being that everything is snow packed and I'm 2wd at the moment it's tough to actually get into boost because I just spin tires, it definitely feels like it pulls better though. Pulled back into the garage and noticed the turbo was leaking oil.

    20190222_163713 by Ryan Heintzelman - Flickr2BBcode

I believe this was caused by my pcv still being routed into the intake. With positive pressure holding the valve shut and blow by getting past the cylinders I was pressuring the oil pan which wasn't allowing the oil to flow down the return line and finding the next easiest way out, through the turbo. I plugged the intake port the pvc fed and vented the pcv to atmosphere for now. Took it for a short drive and I think I'm oil free!

Really, it's more my broken foot keeping me off the busy roads which are free of snow. Clutching with the right foot and using the ebrake to slow is a mind fuck lol.

    Short pull... https://youtu.be/qrlngK3pjN8

It's pretty responsive, 5th gear is now usable again. I didn't do any real big hills but I'd usually have to downshift to fourth on some small grades on the route I took. If I can make it up the hill just south of me in fourth doing 65 MPH I'll be satisfied for now.

I have an exhaust leak. I think it's right where the manifold bolts on. I'm not sure if I still have a small oil leak or if it is just stuff burning off the wrap and turbo blanket.

I'm also not entirely sure that my ecu is compensating for the extra air. My afr never dropped below 14 even when I hit open loop at 5psi.

Decided to do the MarMount mod on the driver side motor mount. I'm glad I did. There wasn't much life left in the mount and it had began to separate.

    20190228_165419 by Ryan Heintzelman - Flickr2BBcode

It's basically just cutting that stud off and drilling a hole the whole way though. I used a M12 x 90mm bolt an 80mm would be perfect, 90 is a little long. Now when the motor trys to rotate its trying to stretch the bolt instead of the worn out rubber.

Added a neoprene washer on both sides as you will feel some more engine vibes. I haven't driven the truck yet but started it up and it's noticeable at idle. Anxious to see how @Squeaky Penguin HD mounts feel in comparison.

Crappy pic but you get the idea. I don't think this would be possible to do with the differential in there. So something to think about if you ever have yours out.
    20190228_183713 by Ryan Heintzelman - Flickr2BBcode

I'm still dealing with oil leaking out of the turbo. I'm almost to the point of thinking that it is actually the turbo itself and not excessive crank pressure. I don't think I have anything that could possibly be blocking the oil return but it's the next thing to check before ordering new turbo seals.

Hopefully I fixed the exhaust leak. Found it was coming from the egr flange. Smothered the gasket in copper rtv. Hopefully it works...

Brett's motor mounts looked the same way when we started to mess with the mounts.

I've put about 75 miles on the turbo. I'm loving how quite the truck is! I never knew my tires made a sound before!

My AFRs aren't dropping as low as I'd hoped when in open loop. Only hitting 13.7. I'm hoping it's just because of my fuel pump having 250k on it. Should have a new one this week. Hopefully I can also figure out why my sending unit doesn't read below a quarter tank.

Your truck has an external fuel filter correct?

Has that been changed recently? If not, good do do with the pump.

Decided which pump you are going to use?

The filter has maybe 10k on it. It's under the intake manifold. Went with the Walbro 190
