Time is creeping up for the Fall edition of the Mojave Run

A group of us make this trip twice a year, once in Spring, and once in Fall.

It starts on the Barstow/Calico border and spans the Mojave National Preserve to Stateline (Ca/Nv)

It is two days of open desert prerunning, exploration, and camaraderie.

We leave early Saturday morning, camp out Saturday night in the middle of the desert, end up behind Buffalo Bills casino for lunch on Sunday, then a fast paced desert trail run from the back of Whiskey Pete's back to Calico.

You don't need to be long travel to do this trip. All you need is a sense of adventure and camping supplies.

    Race radios/HAM are strongly advised.

    What to bring
    - Race radio
    - GPS
    - Map of Mojave Desert
    - 5 to 10 gallon extra gas
    - Firewood
    - Matches/lighters
    - Tent
    - Sleeping bag
    - Lanterns/flashlights
    - Food/drink to last 3 days
    - Toilet paper
    - Camera
    - Spare parts
    - Full size spare tire (at least 1)
    - Set of wrenches in Standard and Metric
    - At least $20 in cash in small denominations (for campgrounds)
    - First aid kit

Meeting spot: Arco Gas Station at Barstow Outlets

    Meeting time: 7am SHARP

    Race radio: 153.110

I'm definitely in. I'll have my rear long travel set up complete by then.

Mike: What kind of spare parts do you mean? How crazy are we going to go to break parts along this trip?

rear LT trucks, especially 2nd gen tacos, should carry a spare carrier bearing, spare nuts and bolts for motor mounts, shock mounts, and shackles... if you haven't changed your fuel filter recently, a spare fuel filter can't hurt...

spare headlight bulbs... spare brake fluid... power steering fluid... motor oil...

duct tape... electrical tape... spare hose clamps, especially if you have an intake system...

where we will be will be NOWHERE near gas stations or service stations or auto parts stores, so its best to be prepared, or be prepared to either leave your truck behind and come back for it later, or shell out $2,500 for an offroad tow truck...

    better safe than sorry...

    Just the basics
This looks like a great trip. I am a bit concerned with the water crossings and stock suspension.

stock height 6 lug trucks are fine with the water crossings...

its the 5 lug stock trucks that might be a concern...

so you got a route in mind? i read on CT that you were thinking about changing it up so the Plow could roll the whole way and not break the law.

i'm just curious so i can do a lil research...

So a CB wouldn't cut it? You'd need a race radio?

CB only has a range of 1 to 3 miles... at some of the speeds we will hit, its possible to end up more than 5 miles behind the LT trucks...

it can be done though, but you have to be extra diligent when you drive, cuz you won't have the benefit of the fully built trucks calling out road hazards...

Wow that sucks I was reading that with a good big antenna put in the right spot on a clear day you could get around 10 miles or more of reception.
