    Hello all,

I've been looking into designing my own aluminum roof rack in SolidWorks lately. I have found all the hardware I'll need but I want to design my own 'sides' without companies' logos on them, and rather my own logo. I was just wondering if anyone out there has any CAD models in .SLDPRT, or editable format CAD.

    Thanks!

I've already started a design, just want to skip the guess and test parts..

CAD? What's that? I made my own with a cardboard template and the TLAR method. :D

looking at doing the same thing with solid works. Im going to use some PVC pipe and a heat gun to get the curve of the roof line and some card board for the rest of the dimensions then have it cut out of some plate aluminum. I'm lucky to have some friends with some expensive tools. nice job @jdmstuff.

Thanks! All I used was a belt sander, jigsaw, and drill press.

@OnHartung'sRoad That came out great! I think sometime this weekend I may make the old cardboard template and then take it into SolidWorks to play with. I want to make it unique to my Tacoma, by adding some details... similar to your r2d2 cutout

Thanks! I thought about a Stormtrooper helmet design to match the white and black motif I have going on the truck, and the Rebel insignia, but I’m more of an R2D2 type...

Well for the few people that find this thread.. I will be modeling up my own roof rack and I will then share the files when I have it completed.

Umm I used Solidworks in college, then this mechanical engineering job after college. Then joined the Army and forgot everything. I need a refresher haha. But I’ll be interested in the files for sure and let us know how much it cost you to get it machined or made

I just downloaded the emachineshop.com CAD program. Does anybody have the file for the double cab roof rack side rails? Thanks in advance!

Are you going for the front rack?

I'm up for helping but I use AutoCAD + Fusion 360.

The biggest thing I need to evaluate is the location of the mounting holes on the cab.

The emachineshop CAD program can read DXF files.

I have a few local shops who do waterjet and cnc plasma. The rack has been a plan of mine to do but I have been super stacked at work.

Additionally, I have a large amount experience with fab and cnc.
