Nice camper build. Are you going to have cots or permanent beds built in the bed?

Why not just use a tent, rtt, or high top camper shell? It might be a dumb question but just wondering the advantages of your type of setup.

Half the upper portion is removable in order for a person up to 7’ tall
To stand in. Platforms go back in for night time, making a 4.5’x8’ bed.

Not dumb at all. We actually had a ez topper lift on the Silverado and loved it, but it was a really big pain to change/stand/pee in. I really like what gfc and vagabond did with their set ups and wanted to mimic that in mine. RTT are great, but the set up and break down is annoying to me, high top campers look goofy ahah, and I’ve done the camper shell game. Just wanted to basically up the game and make something more comfortable for longer trips 2+ weeks. I also wanted the ability to use my truck with a topper (store bikes, etc)

Yea high top campers do look goofy. So I guess yours is like a cross between a rtt and a slide in camper. With quick setup and room but you dont have a 1000 pound slide in you have to ride around with.

I could see wanting the extra room over a regular shell for standing and not laying down and your head is 6 inches from the ceiling.

Yeah man basically. Gives you the versatility and the lightness of a shell, but has some of the space of a 4wheel, so forth. Basically a cross. And it takes less than 10 seconds to drop the top and drive away.

Ahah, hey man. It works. And that all it really needs to do. You can always improve it. I had the time and the resources at work and I wasn’t in any rush to get it done.

ya at the time my front coilovers blew up right after I built this on a camping trip, and then this time the rings went in my engine so onto the back burner it goes. its crazy but these things going bad always spawn like 900 side projects

Well the mentality is like, the truck is down...so..., or well I am already doing this, so why not just do it all at once. I am kinda in that dilemma right now with the camper. I want to do all the wiring and power, but that’s gonna push the project another 2+ weeks and I am already dodging weather to work on it outside and use it as a DD

I hear ya. I added a gauge pod project, complete new exhaust, wheel stud upgrade and a shifter and clutch upgrade on top of the engine rebuild but they're all connected so it makes sense to do it all. I'm also looking at quickly doing a chevy 63 swap since I got the truck on the hoist and I have time on my hands waiting for the machine shop. the way I see it is if you gotta take apart the same stuff twice might as well do it all at once

19C8B24D-A9BF-4DF6-AF48-5E1E7EF24F9D.jpg Today’s project. Poly hinge is mounted to the frame. Unfortunately my original plan of using a high grade epoxy to mount the HDPE to the poly hinge ain’t gonna work. It will hold the plastics together in static form but not taking the abuse of being on the back of the truck. So! I’ve decided to test some options out this morning.

    Option 1: 5/16” nut/bolt combo
    Option 2: 3/16” Blind Rivets w/washers
    Option 3: 3/8” wood screws
    Option 4: 1/2” wood screws

Wood screw are a bust, I couldn’t even get the drill to break tq on the 1st setting

The other two options, I am going to test out at work under a load and see which one works better. More pics to come. FE86A7B6-90A5-458F-A002-99CD44176A3F.jpgF2062A43-C1CC-4182-AC0D-382CA9B4A61D.jpg

Fuck no. That's well beyond the 10k budget, you'd be surprised how fast the money gets chewed up. The only swap that was kinda close was a 2uzfe, but I couldn't narrow down a price on the custom fab work needed. 2jz was also very close, I actually had one lined up but dude backed out last second. Rebuild was the cheapest quickest option.

What’s wrong you didn’t want to spend 28k and throw a diesel in her? Ahaha jk man. “Dream truck”. I’ve done an engine swap/rebuild before on my STI, shit was expensive! So I get it.

Lol someone has been on the diesel toys website!! I try not to think about how much I've spent on this truck over the years. My fiance has a bad habit of adding up the bills tho

Here is Canada, its called “puck board” lol. Its on the shelf at the big box store. 1/8” and 1/4”. I used 2 sheets on my camper build. Just a heads up, glue does not stick to it well and it expands quite a bit in the heat. Other than that its amazing material.
    Nice build by the way!

I have, its really nice to look at ahaha.

Yeah I try to keep it low key, but we are planning a 30 dayer in September. So spending is a little inevitable.

Hey man! Thanks for the info! I’ve already figured out the whole no glue thing. Been experiment with fastening methods.

What do you by quite a bit? It gets up over 110 in the valley. Ahaah

Im in Canada so a not that hot lol! So on a 80deg/f day in the sun, the sides of my camper with the puck board get pretty wavey. Maybe installing it on a warmer day may help control this a bit?
