Whelp, one of those screws in the MAF is beyond destroyed. My extractor bit wouldn’t take it out! I ended up removing the entire air box and spraying the MAF cleaner as best I could from the back of the intake tube. It must have worked because after over an hour of driving today, the CEL hasn’t come back on. Also, my headlight started working again so I’m not sure what’s up with it. Maybe I hit something when I was fumbling with the air box? I just hope it continues to work.

MAF sensor cleaner is notoriously good for headlights. Glad that took care of your CEL.

I had an '87 Pickup where the headlights would momentarily turn off if I hit a bad bump. The first time it happened I was doing 60 on a back road in the middle of nowhere. Scared the crap out of me.

Adjusted rear drums and bled the brake system (being sure to not forget about the BPV) today. My brakes have never felt better in the 6 years I've had the truck. :woot: Couldn't be happier

In an attempt to get my CEL to disappear for good (it keeps coming on intermittently) I removed my MAF and gave it a good cleaning and cleaned the throttle body because it had a little carbon (dirt?) on it. CEL is still on, so I’m thinking O2 sensor is the culprit now.

Gave the truck a wash, clay bar, and a wax. That was MUCH needed :)

    Things to buy:

    diff/transfer case fluid
    spark plugs
    alternator
LBJs (if I can figure out if they were replaced with my frame or not)

Should be pretty easy to tell if they were replaced but I doubt they did it with the frame. I recommend going OEM on the LBJs. I had one from NAPA fail in less than 5k miles.

I'd get OEM for sure. One of my friends was saying he thought they get replaced with frame swaps. I need to try to dig up my paperwork from that I guess

    Well I missed 123,456

Today I replaced spark plugs and wires and it seems my ever so slightly rough idle has gone away. Plugs were only $3 a piece at the dealer. I wasn’t expecting to get out that cheap! :woot:

Also, I learned my LBJs were replaced with the frame so they only have 50,000 on them. Next on my list will be to rework my leaf springs and replace my alternator. New from Toyota is only $253 with a $75 core. Not too bad

Have you looked into the Cadillac alternator? I got one from Vatozone for $125, also kept my OEM one in case it shits the bed. All you have to do it get a wiring harness that's less than $15 from eBay. You get more amperage for cheaper

Hm, no I hadn’t looked into that. I was trying to steer clear of an Autozone alternator. What’s the real benefit of it?

You get more amps. You can also source one from other places like eBay. Wouldn't hurt if you wanted to get a better alternator and reuse the OEM one if it shits the bed on the trail or whatever. That's my plan after I rebuild the OEM. Just look up "CS130 alternator Toyota" if you want more info.
