What's the go-to shop for alignments around Greer/Greenville area? Picked up a new daily last week and it needs a little love.

What did you focus in? I'm looking in to programs right now and I have zero idea what to do haha. I was considering supply chain management. I'm currently an IT Project Manager in a bank, and I do not want to stay in the banking industry and I don't necessarily want to do IT either so that rules out MIS, accounting, finance. But I also don't really want to do just a Project Management MBA either.

I focused mine on Market Analysis as I am angling my way into Corporate Development. I went through Clemson's part-time, after work program. Really enjoyed it, but should have taken more advantage of the additional networking opportunities they had (allowed myself to say I was too tired/busy with work and school to add anything else).

As you are an IT Project Manager at a bank, I would not get a project management MBA. Getting your PMP is worth more specifically for project management (and is way cheaper than an MBA).

It depends what programs you are looking at as well as your flexibility (online vs local), but I would pick something that can build off of your current skills but bridge you into your future career vs further establishing yourself in a career you do not want long term.

I will be getting my PMP as well. I also want a MBA though to specialize in some area. I really wanted to get it through Michigan State, but that's most likely not going to happen, as I think they only have 1 online program right now and it's not what I want to focus in. I was leaning towards and online only program, but I've heard from multiple people (and based off what you said above) that it's better to do an MBA in a cohort. So that changes what schools I apply to. Luckily there's quite a handful around SoCal.

I kind of want to do marketing as well. I would really like to work for some sort of surfing/outdoors/sports company like Rip Curl, Quicksilver, Nike, etc. and a lot of those positions I've seen are in the marketing side or a product manager, so I'm trying to find something that can cover both or one of those aspects.

I would definitely check out your local options - it allows you to build a network with the people you are in class with. I am positive you can find one locally with a Marketing focus - that is a very common focus.

Yeah, I just don't know if I want to do marketing. I definitely need to do some more research in to schools that are nearby and their programs. I've been in my current position for almost 3 years now so I have some decent experience which is good. San Diego State actually has a sports MBA program that I saw last night that intrigued me. I just don't know the potential job market enough for that, but would be really cool to be able to work for some sort of sports team. Lots of research to do in general I guess. Good thing I don't have any projects for work right now, I've been doing nothing for the last week and a half
