Thanks- these classic Whalers are a good fit for the bay and N.H. coastal area, plus it fits in my garage for the winter. Purchased it in St. John, New Brunswick, Canada this past summer. The older Whalers tend to hold their value if cared for; thus boat ownership costs are mitigated. (Once owned a 1985 13’ Boston Whaler Supersport with 40 HP Yamaha; purchased it used for $5,000 and resold it 10 years later to a Navy serviceman for $4,500.)

That thing makes the taco look so small! hows it tow? That thing all loaded has to be close to 5k lbs. Love it!

I’m guessing it’s no more than 3500lb wet. The boat is 1528 dry, motor 505, trailer around 900. Then I’ll say another 600 for gas, batteries and stuff.
It’s 22 feet on a 27 foot trailer so it does dwarf the Tacoma, but it towa surprisingly well.

Are you able to tow on the highway with over drive? My boat is only a 16ft, probably 2000lbs fully loaded up and i cant keep it in overdrive at 65mph without the trans temp shooting up. Throw it in 4th and its fine but kills my mpg. Makes me wish i got a manual trans.

Yeah I run in 4th. I’ve tried to run in OD, but the trans temp always shoot up. I’ve got a trans cooler sitting in the garage waiting to be installed. I’d like to see if that will allow me to tow in OD.

Yea i've installed a trans cooler thats 3 times the size of the factory one(Hayden 678). It worked really well for when im on the beach, but didnt help much for the boat.

Heres my vessel, its a RO skiff and she's purpose built for fly fishing and drafts only 3 inches of water. With the fat tired dolly we can launch that thing anywhere that there is a trail wide enough for the boat to fit through. Last picture is at the end of a long narrow hiking trail. No way to get a trailer anywhere near many of the places we launch. We get to some pretty good skinny bass water in this stable 3 man craft, typically only accessible by kayaks and canoes.

Took the first trip of the season on Friday. Just dunked it and cruised around for a couple of hours, the lake was empty- it was nice.

I bet that probably fits nicely in the bed of your taco. Tailgate down of course and maybe on boards above the wheel wells. What's it measure, about 4' x 8'. Would like to see how you haul it.

How much do you think it weighs?

My home built unit comes in at 450 before the cooler seat bases are installed.IMG_20190428_142001.jpg IMG_20190428_143840.jpg

Oh wow - I thought it was much shorter than that based off the earlier pic of it in the water but still nice that you can transport without a trailer.

    Boat trailer, what boat trailer?
I have a 2hp honda kicker to go with it.
Rather proud of this set up. I can get 3 people and a dog in the boat and the truck. comfort however is another story.
