If it doesn't have a vent, they are easily bought online. There's even a nice metal one, although I'd be worried it'd get broken off.

    Good info here:

    https://expeditionportal.com/forum/threads/difference-in-water-and-fuel-cans.37736/

Apparently the plastic isn't different and there isn't any sort of liner on either can. But the water and fuel cans are still different. The fuel are somewhat thicker and have a different seal and different lip. It seems that if you use a water can with fuel in it there is a greater chance of it leaking in use and spilling when pouring. But it shouldn't dissolve the plastic or anything in use.

I went with sceptres for water but a metal NATO can along with a non-CARB nozzle for fuel. Couldn't justify the expense of an actual scepter fuel can.

All the CARB nozzles are just insanity. Classic case of solving the wrong problem and making things worse. Sure they might trap vapor but it seems the spills they generate would create more vapor in the end than the non-CARB nozzles do.

Anyone know if it's worth trying to fit a fuse panel in a first gen?
Figure it can't be too hard but maybe the space doesn't allow for it in first ?

If you can't solve the problem, there's money to be made prolonging it.

So since this has become the BS thread and I've always been mystified by the CARB nozzles and in general the folks at CARB have historically not been total idiots even if some of their crap is annoying I decided to do some research on just what the living eff is up with the backstory.

The best summary I can come up with is that the reason we all suffer from these fuck-witted nozzles is because in fact nearly the majority of dumb asses in this world with fuel cans store them open!!! Basically they leave the damn nozzle on all the time which of course for a non-CARB nozzle means you essentially have left the can open. This unsurprisingly does actually lead to fucking massive amounts of emissions.

And honestly - that really is a real problem in places like CA where low altitude ozone pollution from long chain hydrocarbons (e.g. gasoline vapor) is a big problem. If you don't think it is a problem you weren't alive and in the LA area back in the 70s and 80s. Having fixed vapor emission in cars themselves and at the gasoline stations the next biggest producer was all these open gas cans.

So since we can't trust the average moron to take the fucking nozzle off and put the cap on the "solution" was to make nozzles that close themselves. Yes they suck and result in more spills but even with the more spills there is still way less emissions because they close themselves the rest of the time.

At the same time CARB and EPA were realizing the world is full of gas cans stored with nozzles on them instead of caps someone else also observed that little kids wander around in garages have a tendency to knock over these uncapped fuel containers with the unfortunate result of toddler self-immolation. And so now instead of just solving the open cap emissions problem they decided to make the nozzle effectively child proof too! So that's why they are so hard to operate - it is by design.

So yes the damn CARB nozzles cause more spills and likely result it more emissions while refueling. But as far as CARB is concerned that is just fine as what they are really trying to fix is vapor emission while some idiot has left the nozzle on the can in their garage for months on end. That stored open emissions is absolutely huge and trumps any emissions from spills when refueling.

I misunderstood these nozzles. I thought they were suppose to reduce vapor emissions while refueling like the vapor recapture nozzles at the gas station. That's not the case at all. They do nothing to help with vapor emission when refueling - and in fact make it worse by more spills. But they let the average idiot leave the nozzle on the can while in storage. And since investigations showed that more than 50% of people store their gas with the nozzle on the can they banned the sale of open nozzles and made all cans be sold with nozzles that can be left on when in storage.

So in the end this is another "why we can't have nice things" story. People are fucking morons.

So when can we get self-closing paint cans?? Sick of buying terrible paint only by the quart or hauling it from out of state. (REAL oil based paints)

So back on topic and just for curiosities sake. Guessing it hasn't been asked yet.

From what I gather, the auction was able to be held by the landlord for unpaid rent... and the stuff being in the warehouse keeping it from being leased to another tenant?

What happens with the money from the auction? Landlord take what hes owed off the top and remainder goes to the court to be divided up to creditors? Or is everything straight to the courts and then divided up? Or does landlord get to buy an island with the money.

Or... for the conspiracy theorists... does the cash get handed to the Pilfers to scam again.. unless the FBI has enough evidence to stop them before they do it a 4th time.

thats a water can, the fuel type is different and doesnt use that lid. it has a internal air vent. I use them and love it, you do need a wrench but its not bad.
